The canadian senate has been the target of criticism over the years. What are these criticisms, and are they legitimate? What changes would you make to improve its functioning?

The Canadian senate is an appointed body, that does not represent the majority of Canadians, and is nothing but a political patronage job.

It should be abolished.

Failing that, we Canadians should at least have a vote on who sits in it.

If anyone was to criticize their senate it would make sense to question the citizens there and hear what they think.

Senators are appointed by the Government and are unelected in the house of sober second thought I'd leave it as it is

It's been called, quite accurately, "a taskless thanks". That's the basis of all the criticisms.

Improvements, I dunno. Have them change roles with the Ottawa Senators?
