I mean seriously, the government is good for two things: building stuff and blowing stuff up, and even most of that work is contracted out. If the private sector destroys the government in everything, why don't we just let them do everything.

The seconed symbol is the sword that says "Veto" that is pointing at the children meaning President bush vetoed the plan. toward a bulk gasoline refinery with nothing to stop it?

After taking a look at all the debt the govt. is in, all the debt that US consumers are in ($800 billion in credit card alone circa 2005), record property foreclosures, the poorly designed and crafted profit reporting requirements for businesses, and very little government (SEC) oversight of business, I think its out of control now.

Bernake might be in the cab trying to put on the brakes, but I think he is going to crash and go up in flames with the economy, shortly.

What is your take?

I ask because of the amount of war funding since this thing began, and the lack of funding for education since I've been born. Now, I ask all of you all to set aside your political influence (If you can), bias and education, and tell me if I'm wrong.

But our priorities here are "screwed".
It's one thing to have a safe nation, but a safe nation of under-educated/trained people. Wouldn't that spell "disater" to anyone with a brain?

The erosion of our civil rights, wire tapping, voter fraud, military industrial theocracy, additional powers given to the executive branch ... regardless of how you feel about these issues, as we push democracy in different countries around the world (Russia, Afghanistan, Iraq etc.) have we become a bad example of how a democracy is suppose to work?

and, if so

How badly have we damaged our reputation as 'a beacon of hope' to oppressed nations?
