With modern society becoming so global and complicated there is a real need for some kind of global system. What sort should it be? A system for all the worlds countries to debate, or an actual world government with it's own powers of global enforcement or something in between?

Election time is just around the corner. What in your opinion should be the primary issues that our new elected President should address first and second and explain why. Be precise please. I'm just curious on how many of us "think alike" on issues that are of the utmost importance for our new president. And do you believe that these important issues will be enforced by our new elected president.
Thankyou for all answers and input.

I don't know where it came from or who started it, but for some reason people have been lying about our country calling it a Democracy. It is clear from the writings of James Madison, that our country was designed as a republic based on the concepts of liberty:

Here are two good explanations of why liberty and democracy are quite different concepts and why the misconception about our government has lead to poor policy in the middle east:

Yahoo Article:

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070223/ap_on_re_as/asia_cheney

In the article, Cheney criticizes China for its shooting down of a satellite, saying that such moves are inconsistent with China's claim that it wants a peaceful rise. With what the US has done in the Middle East during the past few years, with the countless violent government overthrows by the US since WWII, with our absolutely huge military budget, Cheney has the audacity to criticize another country over this? As uncomfortable as it might make American citizens, who can seriously criticize China, or any country for that matter, for beefing up its military?

"States are running out of health dollars

By SHANNON McCAFFREY, Associated Press Writer Thu Feb 22, 1:54 PM ET

ATLANTA - Some states are warning that hundreds of thousands of poor children could lose their health insurance if Congress doesn't act soon to come through with more money for the program.

The situation is most severe in Georgia, where officials plan to stop enrolling kids in the state's PeachCare program starting March 11 because of a $131 million shortage..."

Of course we all know that National Healthcare is just another Washington power grab and Marxist infection.

k now im on the pro side... here it is:

Topic: National Service

Resolved: The United States federal government should establish a policy substantially increasing the number of persons serving in one or more of the following national service programs: AmeriCorps, Citizen Corps, Senior Corps, Peace Corps, Learn and Serve America, Armed Forces.

so since im on pro, the basic argument is that im trying to back up why the US should establish a policy (eg. draft, but open to any other policy) increasing the # of ppl participating in national service. any reasons and solid evidence or backup is greatly appreciated...
