Are you kidding? Why? So we'll be forced to pay up to 5 times the price for the same products? Lets stop kidding ourselves. The problem isn't cheap labor from China. First of all, that's not gonna last forever. Secondly, America is capable of superior quality, productivity and efficiency. What America should really be doing is dealing with rising health care costs, fully funding the Head Start program and looking for ways to lower costs of and improve education of our youth which would enable our businesses to continue to be competitive well into the 21st century. The government should only concern itself with three additional areas of our lives: Defending our borders, protecting consumers (from predatory practices and defective products) and the environment.

Of course not, the United States should reinstate the tariffs that protected our country for the first two hundred years of our existence to protect our economy and exploit the Chinese like we do anyone else. Why should the U.S. be the only industrialized nation on the planet that doesn't protect it's industrial base or the people employed by it's industry. Oh yeah, the corporate conglomerates own our politicians, sorry.

If outsourced cheap quality labor is the rule, then the blogbaba says go to the largest Democracy on earth (India) and replace our entire Judaical and Executive branches of the Federal Government along with our entire Congress with cheaper Indian politicians that will do ten times the work a fraction of the price the American public currently pays it's government representatives. Watch how fast NAFTA & GATT would get repealed.

Lots of luck, have you looked at almost all of our manufactured toys, televisions, electronic products, etc. If we eliminated trade with China, we would be shooting ourselves in the foot.
If we eliminated trade with China, it would lessen our trade deficit and also probably some of our budget deficit, but if we did then American manufacturers would really have to try to fill in all the gaps for products that would no longer be supplied by the Chinese market.
Plus, the reason why there is such a trade deficit right now is because we can buy Chinese products for a lot less money than we can buy products that are produced in the United States

America can not eliminate trade with China, but it can hold China responsible for fair trade policies by removing China from it's MFN Most Favored Nations trade policy. But the fact of the matter is that China has so much money invested in our government bonds that if we tried to enforce our own laws against them they might pull their money out and we would be broke or have to default on our debt which would cause more problems than the trade issue. America must stop borrowing against the future earnings of our posterity.

No, we should not eliminate trade with China. Officially, our government should not stop trading with any country because that would prohibit dialog, tourism and treaties. Hatred and intolerance of other countries stems from fear, and fear is a result of the unknown. When we meet and interact with our neighbors, hopefully we become friends and no longer fear them.
Then we begin to visit each other and understand our differences. The next step is trade and suddenly, we are benefiting each other in many ways. With treaties, we support each other. Cutting off relations with another country usually leads to misunderstandings, suspicions, fear and war. We are now in the 21st century and need to stop being hostile with other people. It's time for us to honestly try to be good neighbors and we will all be winners in the end. Honesty is crucial in successful foreign relations, and our media has the responsibility for correctly reporting government activities. Citizens have the responsibility for learning as much as possible about the activities of their politicians, and our government has the responsibility for representing the will of the majority of the people. Never close doors and always avoid scapegoating other countries.

If the US eliminated trade with China the US economy will implode in less than a week. Just count how many products you used today that were made in China. Perhaps you don't realize it but make the effort to check the things you use on a daily basis and if 50% of them were not made in China I would be very surprised.
Clothing, cutlery, drinking glasses, electronic products, electrical cords, vacuum cleaners, nails, hammers, safety pins, rugs, brooms, tooth brushes, microchips, computer storage devices, etc. etc. When they start manufacturing our aircraft we'll be in real trouble.

that question isn't so actual replied for here motives: a million. the place is the struggling with occurring? China might have over one billion human beings yet solid luck attempting to get even a fragment of them halfway international to US soil. it would be like attempting to take the long island Giants from long island to San Francisco interior of a Ford concentration. on the different hand, if the U. S. became invading China who will provide them a staging section to invade? India? Russia? North Korea? one among the different aspects that border China? Is American prepared to spend the billions it would take to invade as properly as commit the troops? 2. Why? the U. S. is one among China's best purchasers. China going to conflict with the U. S. is like McDonald's going to conflict with fat human beings. would not make experience for their base line. on a similar time, what reason does the U. S. could flow to conflict with China? reckoning on the supplies getting used, risk is the U. S. will come out on ideal. One nuke can take out 1000's of 1000's of troops that are interior the open. Even with out nukes there are a lot of smaller bombs which would be utilized.

That would now be impossible. The current administration has pretty much sold America to China. A huge percentage of our national debt is owed to the Communists (thanks George) and if we tried to limit or stop trade with that country, they could call the debt - sending America into a recession. That's why they'll continue to be a most favored nation, whether we like it or not.
