It all depends on your view...do you see yourself as a citizen of a specific country, or a citizen of this planet. With worldwide issues (like Global Warming), we are forced to see that the world is a fairly small place, and the actions of one country definitely impact others. For that reason, I think it would be an important step forward to implement somekind of global system of governing...certainly on issues that impact the planet.
Would it or could it work? Absolutely not. Not with the players in place today. Not with the terrorist cells in existence. There are major trust issues...with people not knowing who they can believe and count on.

Many think that the global business, and the global unity is a new concept, and took birth only after signing of the WTO arrangement and earlier proposed by Dunkel only.
But the first person to promote globalisation of the world economy was Karl Marx. Unlike the pro-capitalist and Rich dominated WTO and Dunke proposals, the globlisation of Karl Marx began with the slogan "Workers of the World Unit".
Talking across the border, caste, breed, religion, there can be only two class in the world, the haves and have nots based on which the have nots need to unite to prevent the robbery of the haves who exploit the natural (or god made wealth) resources to their favour and exploit the others.
So the Best world unity will be the unity of the world proletariats

A universal healthcare system should have been in place long ago. However, it seems that one's income can only determine the quality of healthcare that they recieve. Unfortunately, there are far too many people without the means to pay for quality healthcare. At this point, it's too late to really implement it now. It won't work. There are too many people in this country that are earning minimum wage that will have even greater problems, if it happened now. There are far too many people struggling to afford the simple things, aside from their health. But then again, it's really a loaded question. Many people have different points of view on how the state should affect their lives.

World government may not be implemented because state sovereignty is supreme in the international arena. Furthermore sates are refusing to let go of some of their powers it is exactly why the United Nations do not function properly. Plus, irreconcilable differences exist between poor, undeveloped and undemocratic countries and the rest. Thus, the question arises, how much power are you willing to give to those sates. I.E. Should Tajikistan be on the same decisional level as Great-Britain? I greatly doubt that they would agree to it.

No. It will never work as long as there are Muslim radicals trying to take over the world claimed by the UN and mega-rich like George Soros who want to be the master of the world. It would never work even without those factors. The whole idea of a one world order is based in insanity and greed. And "modern society" isn't global, it's regional and must remain so for stability and sovereignty.

Probably something in between. It would be easy to implement. All countries would hold elections to determine who their representitive in the world government would be. The real difficulty would be in making sure that everyone would get equal representation. It could end up as ineffective as the U.N. It would be hard to ensure that all countries would recieve an equal say in everything. It would be like hyper-communism. Great question, though!!!

The United Nations is a good set-up of a world government since it has the different organs and agencies to implement laws governing different countries. It just have to be removed of the US influence in order to have equality of member countries.
