Government - November 2006

[Selected]: All categories Politics & Government Government

Take it a step further. Does anyone really believe that the government does not think of Americans as stupid lambs that will believe what they are told to believe? I’m going to go a little Michele Moore but are there people out there that believe the government would not do something to its own citizen to gain more power? Careful it’s documented, they have done it. No not 9/11, but lets not get started on that. I am not looking for the nuts to answer this I am looking for people who have a good argument. I am starting to really distrust our government and don’t believe they do anything that does not help them selves.

how can we make people feel content enough not to resort to extremism? The BNP is only an example, but a very obvious and visible one, surely there are better parties to vote for?

The constitution set forth a system of checks and balances to curb the evils of tyranny in government, yet it seems evident that it creates a system which promotes: dishonest politicians, unfair laws, special interest/faction/partisan power, judicial injustice, costly and bad foreign entanglements (i.e. our support of the Taliban and Saddam Hussein), etc.

I grant that it has done an incredible job at slowing the rate of deterioration of democracy, but the federal government today dwarfs the confederate government of the early 19th century. With the IRS, privacy is a thing of the past Furthermore, representatives hardly represent and individual freedom is sacrificed for government security/power.

The conduct of men is defined by the system within which they must work. Does not the constitution bear full responsibility for the evils of our government? Why do people think that the US constitution is perfect without room for improvement or change?

On average, when they are speaking about various subjects, how many congressmen or senators are actually there listening?

I imagine it must be discouraging, if noone shows up to listen. Why aren't there any requirements, that they have to be there to listen to arguements? Isn't that their job? Rather than be in the hallways talking to lobbyists?

would you join? The basic platform of this party is a return to all of the Constitutional amendments, including a House of Representatives with REAL representation. Currently we have one House member per 700,000 people. Jefferson wrote it 1-30,000. Our population has tripled in the last 100 years, but NOT ONE new Representative has been added.
To bring new life and new perspectives to our country, and to get away from the lobbyists, and the same old rich Democans and Republicrats view of the world, a change is needed.
Do you agree?

granted he's not as intelligent as hitler was, think of it like aryan nations, only it's not based on looks. he wants to make every nation like america under the guise of freedom. we all know there's underlying reasons. it's just a shame so many of our men and women are dying for it, along with the innocent people in the other nations.

Personally, I don't believe he should have lost this assignment the first time he held it.

I believe Lott is the sort of plain-speaking republican we need right now.

Save your pedantic slander, you guiless libs.

Pelosi is already making a mockery of the House electoral process by backing Murtha.

Do you think we will see legislations seeking to infringe on our 2ns Amendment rights to keep & bear arms?
Even though there's evidence that gun bans DO NOT work in countries like Great Britain & Australia, there's many politicians who'd like to do just that - people like Pelosi, Schumer, Kennedy, and a host of others.

Who else thinks that the USA and most americans are arrogant. They proclaim themselves the best coutry in the world when were in debt about $10 TRillion. We say were protecting the wolrd by going into Iraq but really were gaining friends in the Middle East for cheaper oil. We say that no more countries can have nucleur weapons but we keep making them in Area 51 (rumor and a sole-opinion of mine) and finally our sporting event. The world series.

This is the best to fire bullets at. The world series. The name says WORLD so shouldnt the WORLD be represented in it? Not just OUR baseball teams but teams from around the WORLD.
at least when the they call it the WORLD CUP theres 32 teams from around the world, and one representing each continent

The Prime Minister is now allowing people to send petitions via his website, but a spokeman says 'party political' issues like pulling troops out of Iraq will not be allowed. It's not a party issue when all three parties largely agree he got it wrong, and what's the point in pretending to be more accessible when you won't brook any discussion of one of the most important issues of the day?
