The Olympics are only for the benefit of the few no matter how much spin and crap you smear over them.
Sure if you live London even more people will benefit and there will be people employed to go round pub's etc trying the ensure good harmony for those that have been inconvenienced by it all with quotes such as " only mutli-culture Britain can do the games this well" or "look how many people are spending money, less tax for us to pay next year" never mind the traffic it goes in Red Ken's Mayor office to be spent on London.
But I feel the problem for the rest of the British Isles is that there is no benefit, only an extra tax burden to keep London shining.

Blair and Livingstone have been bragging about the benefits to the whole country the Games will bring so how come the increase in council tax only applies to London ?.In any case anyone who believes this government or Livingstone can bring anything in on budget is a candidate for the 'funny farm' It's simply a cash cow for all the usual suspects!.

i couldnt care less about the olympics but i think it will be funny as at present we have trouble getting commuters to work on time with our amazing transport system so what it will be like with thousands more athletes and visitors who knows ,they might not even have finished wembley stadium by then and how can they call it the "london olympics" whens its being held all over the country .should have let paris have it

In my opinion, the 2012 "games" are a complete wast of the british tax payers money, they will only be of any benefit to the population of the London area and no use to the rest of the country, surely our taxes can be better spent!!!

I couldn"t care less.
The games, apart from some "sailing", are based in the South East.
Let them pay the cost, it is the people living there that will benefit from the infrastructure.
They recon the games will pay for themselves, rubbish, this has never been achieved in the past.
With all the problems in this country, you think they could find a better cause for the money.
