Elections - February 2007

I hope Republicans don't think he's there best bet for a win in the 2008 elections. Guilani is so Pro-Abortion...look it up my misinformed friends. Don't you right-wings care more about "baby-murderers" than poverty and lack of education in America? Here's another surprise rudy Guiliani doesn't have any experience in the White House either. He was mayor of New York from 1994-2001. Significantly less experience than Sen. Barack Obama.

I had to type the title and the question over again...I was trying to type my question and spread jelly on my toast at the same time!!!

It seems to me that politicians are beholden 20% to their voters, and 80% to those who contribute to their campaigns.

If we banned advertising for campaigns, it would force politicians to resort to interviews, press conferences, and debates to generate votes. They would be forced to speak out on issues in order to get elected, not simply trash talk. They would no longer owe Pfizer, Exxon and Halliburton favors for past election and future election campaign dollars.

What do you think?

would you vote for a woman , or a black person to be president?

2007-02-12 02:24:11 · 19 answers · asked by alex77055 3

Personally I believe he should be given the chance; however, I can already see his coulor would be a factor in this. Although I would love to see a female president - now is not the ideal time!
So my view is Vote for him and lets welcome change!

Likely presidential contender Senator Barack Obama called for the removal of all US combat forces from Iraq by next year? I guess he wants to hand the country over to the terrorists?

It seems that I am not the only person concerned with the possiblilty of Obama doing good in elections. Mr Howard said: "I think that will just encourage those who want to completely destabiliseand destroy Iraq, and create chaos and a victory for the terrorists to hang on and hope for an Obama victory," Mr Howard said in a television interview. "If I were running al-Qaida in Iraq, I would put a circle around March 2008 and be praying ... for a victory, not only for Obama but also for the Democrats."

Someone asked, why people would not vote for Hillary Clinton ... which produced some interesting answers. I would be interested in hearing why people would not vote for Obama.

I am not afraid to admit that I support many of Obama's political stances, and altough officially I am a moderate, I tend to lean left. However, if his stance on drug use is too liberal I may reconsider my opinion but I can't seem to find anything on this that has a solid basis in fact. I understand Obama himself has used drugs in the past (though I believe it is incredibly bizarre that some on the far right criticize given our current president's history) and don't need to be informed of that; what I want to know is what his stance on it is NOW. Thank you.

Surely they can see through all the extravagent claims and promises.
Promises that are simply designed to get votes.
Most of which could not be achieved in a 100 years. When one thinks of the brilliant minds that must exist in the States it beggers belief that the candidates like Hilary Clinton and Borrak thingy are well in the running for the White House in 2008. Heaven preserve America!!!

Barack Obama confesses to smoking pot, using cocaine and only considered using heroin... My point of view. He was honest unlike past candidates and presidents. It all happened a long time ago. He has come clean and stayed clean. His career has thrived. He sets a good example for the people who use drugs and think they have no way out.Unfortunately drug users past and present are a major percentage of our country's people. You know what I think. Now I want to know what you think...

first it was the thing about him going to an Islamic school in Indonesia and now it's because he admitted in one of his books to smoking Marijuana and snorting Cocaine. what someone did in the past is where it should be. in the past. He wrote about it in the book because that was part of his life. He is an honest person who is very capable of leading this country in the right direction. skin color shouldnt matter at all. that is what is wrong with this country. a person can't be president because he or she is not a WHITE MALE. since when are whit males more qualified to be in the oval office than anyone else?

If you otherwise liked the person, would this be a positive or negative factor when deciding whether to vote for them?

I don't know much about Obama, but maybe someone who has been there will have a better idea of how to realistically prevent drug abuse in teens.
