As it was said many years ago...."Our greatest statement as a patriotic american is to dissent"!
As you are obviously a republican and consider yourself patriotic, you are however one of those whose patriotism has bred ignorance and an internal fear that is and has kept you from seeing reality!
As I will not and cannot get into the source of my knowlege, and I hope more read this and do thier own research on what is proving to be a very pivotal time in our country's history!
These are the facts....Iraq was a moderate country...period! Its atrocities no matter how brutal, were in fact no worse than more than a half dozen other countries. Iraq effectively supported a "middle class" of citizens. Saddam never wanted his country to be a haven for terrorist. Keeping the regular citizens in line was enough. And how did he rule...with fear! Not the american way no doubt! But Iraq is in the middle east! When Hillary Clinton was asked the other day was it a "mistake" to go into Iraq, she should have answered "yes", with or without the false information of weapons of mass destruction. And although it was not an ideal government, maintaining Iraq at its then present state was vital to keeping stability in that region.
You say that Obama wants to give the country to the terrorist, well where were the terrorist when the US first invaded Iraq?
I seriously want you to answer that question................
You see, going into Afghanastan was the 'move'! This is a country that not only breeds terroist but profits from it! And what happened there.......Bush pulled the troops out and focused on Iraq! WHY?????
Do you not remember how little resistance the US faced when invading Iraq???? We were there before all of the terrorist!
These are facts no matter how much you don't want them to be!
By destroying that government and destabilizing the region we have effectively turned Iraq into a "killing feild"!
Have you not noticed that in this past week alone that 23...countem'.....TWENTY THREE of our citizens were killed.....this past week alone!
Look man, we are in this god awful mess because we have a president that has used the giuse of being a republican to fool you and mostly everyone else for way too long a time to achieve his own personal goals! We need someone who is not so detached from the rest of the world, like Bush and Chenney are. Someone who is willing to reach out to a world that has changed at warp speed in becomming a global society.
You like so many other Americans are still influenced by what won this president the past election and the same thing that Saddam himself used to rule his country with........FEAR!
Start being a real patriot and ask your president and his administration tough questions and start to hold them accountable for all the lives that our country is losing! But first start to really educate yourself about the facts...the real facts!
As an example...."weapons of mass destruction....he's gottem"
remember that? Not true...a bold face lie! C'mon man.....I know you can do better than ask these kind of questions!

I think it is extremely dangerous and foolhardy to announce a withdrawal date.

He might as well send a letter to the terrorists saying "just hold out until March 2008, then you can do what you want."

It would be hard to think of a more irresponsible statement to make, or course of action to take.

ALL the Democrats want to hand over Iraq to the terrorists, not just Obama. It's a "cut and run" issue. IF we pull out abruptly, we are handing it all back to those who are fighting against us now. The reputation of US miliary forces are at stake here. This tactic will produce dismal results.

Until this country comes together and decides to take this war serious, we're going to be subject to more devastating attacks. And unfortunately, that is going to happen. People had better wake up, or we'll be scaping more American citizens up off the streets.

Do you mean the same Senator Obama whose foreign policy expertise was honed, until a year or so ago, in the Illinois state legislature, and now believes himself a major player on the world stage?

Why certainly, he fits right in with the rest of the loony leftists of whom would like nothing more than to surrender to the terrorists, and what's worse would be what follows right here in our own country if these lunatics succeed with their totally insane agendas...

If he was elected, he would take office in January and he says he'll bring the military home by March! PEOPLE WAKE UP! That sounds scary! That's worse than any other option I've heard on all fronts of the issue!

Obama will change if the polls change.
What does he know about politics? He's just trying to get elected.
You shouldn't worry about him anyway, because when all the dirt about him is exposed, he'll be history. It is so sad that Colin Powell isn't running.
