first it was the thing about him going to an Islamic school in Indonesia and now it's because he admitted in one of his books to smoking Marijuana and snorting Cocaine. what someone did in the past is where it should be. in the past. He wrote about it in the book because that was part of his life. He is an honest person who is very capable of leading this country in the right direction. skin color shouldnt matter at all. that is what is wrong with this country. a person can't be president because he or she is not a WHITE MALE. since when are whit males more qualified to be in the oval office than anyone else?

They (the media) are TRYING to find something bad about him, but so far, his only "dirty little secret" is that he smokes. What's funny to me, is that the things that they are talking about (drug use, etc), are actually things that will make him appeal to younger voters. Now the big trick will be to get the young people to vote. I think that his lack of time in Washington is a good thing. He doesn't owe "favors" and he is largely unaffected by big business. Also, he has the advantage of an outsider's view, and can see the corruption more than the "old schoolers" because he isn't part of it.
The people who say he is not electable because of his name are probably the same people that voted for GW because he is "just a good old boy" from Texas. I hope that people will pay attention during this election, and will cast their votes based on the candidates character. Also, Obama would probably do a lot of good for our country's image as far as the rest of the world is concerned. He does not fit into any stereotypes that I know of, and I think that his demeanor and likeability, as well as his integrity will help to mend relationships with other countries. I also think that he has a lot of experience and understanding that is outside the scope of the other candidates. How many other candidates have lived in other countries for an extended amount of time? how many have been immersed in another culture that helped to shape them?
I hope that everybody will help educate the people who won't even consider him based on superficial things like skin color, etc

First of all you made several points for answers. The media really only reported what Obama had written in his book. Also, the media actually accurately reported that the school he attended as a 5-yr old child was not an Islamic school at that time. Next, you made a comment about race in relation to the Oval Office. I agree that Obama was very honest about his past. He said that it was what some teens did back in his day. That's true. (I waited until I was 21, though) He also said he was interested in doing heroin, but backed off from it. Just because you did something 30 years earlier in your life doesn't make you incapable of being president. Bush and Jim Beam were buddies up until he reached 50 years old. As for the school, that is no longer an issue. The press showed a photo of Obama's class and each one was dressed in western clothing. If it were an Islamic school, they wouldn't have been dressed that way. As for your comments on race, it's time that stereotypes are set aside and that candidates (and people) are judged on their positions on the issues and for their overall character. THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH RACE. Skin color doesn't matter!

First you should ask yourself, "why is the media doing this" and "whom will the attacks benefit?"

Obviously, the media is not doing it to promote or elevate a conservative. Therefore, there can only be a liberal who will benefit. The answer is as plain as the nose on a cow. They are doing it to benefit Hillary. They have too much invested in her to allow anyone to take the nomination away from her.

Further, there are no groups more racially predjudiced than the liberal democrats. Name ANY high ranking black individual any of their Presidents named to their cabinet. Even though Republican Presidents have appointed women, blacks and hispanics to cabinet posts and the Supreme Court, democrats resist doing so and criticise those individuals of minority background. At some point, liberals should 'wake up' and realize that their top leadership are racially biased.

The media, with the full support of Clinton, have already began to find nasty little rumors to circulate about Obama. Personally, I don't like his politics and wouldn't vote for him anyway but the current whispers about him, by the press, are sorely unfair. Expect them to get MUCH WORSE if Hillary's numbers begin to slip. Remember, Hillary's campaign is being puppeted by Bill. He doesn't care HOW he wins..... just as long as he wins.

I totally agree with you. The media will come up with anything to distract from the person. So what that he is black. I do not see color when I see Obama. I see someone refreshing that could perhaps lead this country in the direction it should be going instead straight to *&*% like we are headed. So, he is black, so he has some stuff in his past. Lordy, look at the White House now!!!! Talk about a shady past and they won't even admit to it.

It has nothing to do with the fact that he is black, so please don't go making this into a race issue. Look how many times the public has been "reminded" that Bush had an alcohol problem, and even that Laura had an accident when she was a kid that resulted in a classmates death. This same thing goes on with everybody. Obama seems to be the media 'darling' of the moment, the seem to love him. HE has decided to get any skeletons out of the closet himself, since he knows they will be digging for them. It has everything to do with the media likes to build people up and then drag them down and sit back and watch. Happens to everybody in the public eye.,

so if it is a WHITE MALE the media will talk only good things about him? When did that ever happen?? Besides, I heard Obama talking. He sounds like he is still on crack. Maybe he is not, I don't know. He just sounds like to me. For example, this is one of his statements: "I do not know the ways this government works. I only know that it must change!" Holy crap. :) If you don't know the ways this government works, how in the world are you going to cange it ?! I understand most, if not all, of the elected presidents never had a clue about how the governments suppose to function. But at least they were smart enough not to admit that publicly in front of all the potential voters! lol ;)

It's natural to focus on the negative aspects of one's life because their past actions can indeed reflect on how they POSSIBLY could be as a leader. However, it's also very possible that whatever person could turn out to be a fantastic leader. It's just the law of politics.

Each voting season (be it for mayor, president, governor, etc) you'll find ads and reports that look negatively on one person and better on another, and vice versa. It's inevitable.

The media is full of crap, that's why. They don't look for the best in people, they find the worst, first. They live and breathe to make people and this country look like FOOLS. Doesn't matter what party...they just do it.
