Why are so many people so against it, I've been reading a lot of comments. And some people think it would ruin our country. I myself would vote for Hilary. I just think she is a very strong person and very wise. So what's wrong with that?? I don't think its fair for people to be putting them down

We the Popular Voting People?

Recently someone brought to my attention, a simple yet complex question. The question was, "How does the Electoral Process works, vs. the Popular vote?" Well we went through the usual, the voting population of each state, combine their votes to a certain number at which time an electoral vote is place, based on the population of the state. This provides a fair playing field for states with a small population.
Then he said, "Then why is that if we take the combined popular vote of each election of the people without their state representation being involved: why is it that the popular vote seems to win and thus really represents the voice of the national people, without state representatives. I quickly thought of the Articles of Confederations. What do you think is correct. Has our combined voice really been muted due to our state representative voice? Or has the state always represented the best interest of it's residents?

HYPOTHETICAL [& thank God impossible] SITUATION

Pretend there was nothing prohibiting Presidents being re-elected to more than two terms, and George W. Bush announced he was going for a third term.

If he won the primaries & it came down to him vs. a democrat, who would you vote for ?

Do you agree with Mitt Romney that, if elected, Giuliani's socially liberal values would "destroy the GOP"?

For the 2008 presidential election are running among others Hilary Clinton (she'd be the first woman), Barack Obama (he'd be the first African American), and Al Gore.

If you vote, for whom would you vote and why???

Hello.

I am French, and I like "yahoo answers" because I can prospect from Paris the values of other peoples like British, or Americans.

What pretty amazes me is that, thanks to your common language, you seem very closer than us to the American culture regarding politics or entertainment (continental people I mean, but I only speak as a French).
I have the feeling you share more interests with the American people.
My question would be : why ? Because you are obviously only 20 miles away from Normandy and 4000 miles away from New-York.

Do you think you can stay isolated from continental countries, and keep dreaming about the USA as your eternal colony ?
Don't you reckon we respect and like you much more than Americans who kind of despise you ?

I am a in favour of the USEurope but I feel sad when I read your questions to observe that your values might be so distant from ours.

One of my friends and I are going to 4-H congress. This a BIG 4-H convention that is set up like the U.S. or Tennessee State Congress. Some of us are set up to be Senators and others to be a Representative. We are assigned to both be Senators. You have the option to run for an office. I am running for Speaker of the Senate and my friend is running for Governor. We really want to win. We are having to give threeor four speeches. My speeches are gameshow themed. My first speech was on Deal or No Deal and how they need to take the real deal, me. My second speech is on Who Wants to be a Millionare and how they should not have to use a lifeline when they go to vote, and I need to be there final answer. So here is my question. Do you have any speech ideas, and WHAT ARE SOME ITEMS WE COULD GIVE AWAY FOR OUR CAMPAIGN STUFF. We need these suggestions to be very creative and original, please. THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP.

Barack Obama sponsored a Resolution in the Senate opposing a recommendation that EVERYONE should be required to show identification at the voting booth.

http://obama.senate.gov/press/050920-obama_introduces_resolution_opposing_photo_id_requirement_for_voting/index.html

Apparently his stance is that poor people may not afford the LARGE sum of about $10 it takes to buy a ID card.

OK, I will give him that. But with the 10 Million illegal immigrants in this country, and the fact that convicted felons are not allowed to vote, shouldn't we be DEMANDING that people show identification at the booth?
Has he already forgotten the long-gone days of the political machine, where often more votes would be cast in a city than that city has citizens?
The only reason this would ever make sense is if he wanted to cheat in the elections, and that was the only way to do it.

How about, instead of compromising our entire election process, we just GIVE POOR PEOPLE FREE IDENTIFICATION CARDS???

Assuming America is foolish enough to put this shrill socialist in office, I wonder if she will use the traditional or more P.C. title.

I think she will wish to be called "Supreme Compassionate Ruler Over The Unenlightened Masses"

especially about Hillary, there are always mostly negative answers? However, when the same or similar Q's are posted in the evenings, the answers are always more intelligent & positive.

Puerto Rico is having a referendum on voting for statehood this week, I believe on Saturday. If they approve it, and there for get 2 Senators and at least 1 Representative, what will happen with DC? DC will have to be included because it would be dumb to give an island representation and not the capital.

This would be an excellent choice to take our good name back? All the Dems. would vote for him and all the women for her.

The First Ever Woman as a VP, even the male-shovenist would vote for her!

Christopher Ruddy recently wrote a column and here are sum details:
We received stark confirmation of this on Sept. 11, 2001, when 19 hijackers engaged in the most horrific attack on the U.S. homeland since Pearl Harbor.
There is ample evidence that Bill Clinton and his administration had solid opportunities to kill or capture Osama bin Laden, but failed to act.
Bill admitted he had the opportunity to get bin Laden before he left the Sudan in 1996, but declined an offer from the Sudanese to turn him over to the United States.
We do not know the full story of what happened during the Clinton years in the lead-up to 9/11, partly because Bill's National Security adviser, Sandy Berger, as we now know, went to the National Archives and stuffed them into his socks and underwear...

I previously posted a question with the same title as this one. (You can refer to it to see all the curious details)
Since that question was posted, Hillary somehow, mysteriously extended her question another 2 weeks without signing in. (Still has the same 96 points)
Yahoo staff claims...
"This is not an endorsement. We are not siding with any candidate or party -- in general or for the 2008 US elections."

What do you believe is acctually going on here?
