Of course his color will affect his votes. There are still too many close - minded idiots in this country.

First off, it's Barack Obama lol but to answer the question. Sadly? Yes. Whether we like to admit it or not, America still suffers horribly from racism. True, we've gotten better than years past, thank god the lynchings and community raizings have ceased and would now land you life imprisonment or even death. But racism doesn't seem to be stopping completely. Maybe it's just human nature? I don't know. Would be nice to think one day we all could actually just get along and live our own lives and not judge someone on how the look, but that's all a fantasy.
I personally welcome his bid for the 2008 presidency as do I for Hillary Clinton, however, Hillary is a little iffy for me . I don't care that she is a woman , personally she is more intelligent than over 70% of the Capitol Hill gang as it is. But Hillary is a little shady, tends to flip-flop more than any other politician, one minute she was the only pro-war democrat, the next she is spearheading the campaign to stop it. At least Obama has stuck to one course. It would be nice to see some fresh blood in the white house instead of rich, old hateful white guys.

Yes, I do beleive that Obama's color will affect him during the race for president. Some of that will be good and some will be bad. I just hope that it is not the determining factor. It would be really nice to be a part of voting public that elects the first black president.
It would also be nice to be part of the voting public that elects the first woman president.

Can we please move past the 1960's! The fact that we still have this debate is pathetic. If Barack's color will determine votes it explains so clearly why we have the president that we do now and why the world is the way it is. We bleed the same blood! Please vote for what is best for our country. Put aside race and gender and focus on intellect and issues. Focus on the security of our country and foreign relations. Women are going to have abortions, homosexuals do exist, you will not abolish homosexuality but you have the power to abolish racism. Can't we just all get along?

It will NEVER be a good time for a female candidate as long as Clinton is in the running. I'm hoping to get to vote for Obama in the general election. I'm white by the way and have no problem voting for a person of color as long as I think they are the best one for the job and in this case I certainly do.

I certainly hope that we are past the point where a candidate's race, gender, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation or any other extraneous factor will determine if someone will vote for them.
A candidate will earn my vote by having views I agree with on the major issues, and plans to deal with the serious situations in our nation and the world. Race, etc... are irrelevant to me.
I hope that people can see past race (etc...) to the real issues of what makes a person qualified to hold public office.

I have seen black people say they wouldn't vote for him because his ancestors were not slaves. Which is ridiculous. And I have heard white people say they wouldn't vote from him because he is black.
I think we should at least hear out his polices and vote based on that. He is running for President of the United States, not president of the Black US or White US. What better candidate to unite people then a man who is half white and half African. He is well educated and seems honest. Unfortunately, I do not have faith that the American people will evaluate him fairly.

On some level yes but so far he isn't getting the black vote. I think people may not vote for him because he is interracial. I won't vote for him in any case. He hasn't said anything to win me to his side his being of color is unimportant to me.

I think some will vote for him because of his race and others will vote against him for the same reason. Some will vote because they beleive he is the best "man" for the job!!

After he blew it with his boorish response to Australian MP Howard, he's not going anywhere.
It's not his color, it's his lack of presidential temperament and his ultra-liberal orthodoxy.
