Way back in 1876 there was a Presidencial race that has some things in common with the 2000 election between Bush and Gore. There was also another election in 1888 that has some simalarities.

In 1876, Samuel J. Tilden of New York defeated Rutherford Hayes with the popular vote.

In 1888, Incumbent President Grover Cleveland defeated Benjamin Harrison with the popular vote.

In 2000, Vice President Al Gore defeated George W. Bush with the popular vote.

Couple things wrong here!

Al Gore has never been president!

Grover Cleveland was the only president to serve two "non-consecutive" terms. Cleveland did not win the 1888 election!

Samuel J Tilden has never been president!

Three times in history, a presidential candidate has won the plurality of the popular vote without winning the election.

Three times in history, a Republican has been given the election with the Electoral College.

What good is our vote if the Electoral College does not match our vote?

Does anyone else find this strange that three republicans have stolen elections and nobody cares to fix the problem??

Please let me know what you think. Thanks

I dont like the Republican's stance on many things ranging from religion, war, minimum wage, and education, but what I do like, and the only reason why I would vote for McCain is immigration.
Democrats are not too keen for legalizing the millions of potential democrats, why? Who cares really. As long as Republicans plan to do so, I'll vote for them.

I am not American, but if you answer me it would be a great honor for me for being answered by someone of such great stature, but my question: How would you make a difference in America? Would you stop the war between U.S.A and Iraq? Would you still approve gay marriage? I dont mean to be mean, but do you honestly think that with all the prejudices in America, people would elect a woman for President?

And the politician who used to be John McCain's, "Neither do I !"

Many Democrats running for Office in 2008 are agreed on supporting creating Universal Health Care. But, I have yet to hear any candidate explain the many benefits of this idea to all the tax payers and citizens that will vote on it, but also have heathcare through the work place. For example, ultimately the tax payer pays for the very expensive costs for emergency room.
Many of the uninsured wait until a medical condition becomes an emergency before they go to the Emergency Room.
The problem is that Emergency treatment is extermly expensive. ER's are not medical clinics that teach or inform the patient about good healthy behavior.
ER's are small hospitals with medical specialists contained within a larger hospital designed to address health crisis, for example heart attacks. These type of Emergency treatment is life saving but expensive. Early detection of contagious diseases is a benefit to all and ER's do this for all of us.
