Elections - February 2007

[Selected]: All categories Politics & Government Elections

Why in this day and age of internet banking, can we not have an online voting system, with registered voters? We can do our taxes online, we can pay bill online, but we cannot vote online. I understand the security risks, but major issues can be voted on by the grass roots of the country, leaving politician with no option but to answer why or why not to the issue at hand.

"One of the joys of being a judge is to grin ruefully at your own secret faults while you deal with the faults of others. "

Would this be a good one?

How many of you out there (above 18 and who vote regularly) really try to choose the best candidate or do you simply vote for the political party that you've always been biased towards? Be honest with yourself.

I should have asked this question instead of my last one about Obama.

Statistics show that African Americans don't get out and take the time to vote. So are they going to if there is a black candidate, just because he is black?

"I'm not here to talk about specifics...What we need is hope" OK, now that we know he doesn't want to take a position, or have any specific plans....How can anyone take him seriously?

These elites coming from their gated estates have nothing in common with the real citizens of this country. They claim they want to protect the environment, yet have homesteads consuming hundreds of acres of land, most of it vacant. They claim to care about the homeless and downtrodden, yet they own multiple homes. They claim to care about energy conservation but oppose the placement of wind turbines because they would ruin their view of the ocean.

They are out of touch with normal Americans.

He's asking for $245B more. $100B for right now and an additional $145B for NEXT YEAR. I am so touched in how President Bush "listened" to what the people want and responded.

Are you as impressed with his obvious care for OUR wishes?

The only way I think a Black person will ever get voted into office is by mistake or unknown. Say for instance, if anyone has seen the show when two families change races for a day. They were made up the opposite of their race to see how each and every one was treated going into society that way. Anyway my point is, if a black person is made up as a white person I think that is the only way he will get voted in the white house as President. If that were to ever happen I would love to see how society would react once that person takes off their make-up and mask.

That the Deparment of Justice require the printing of election ballots, registration forms, and brochures in foreign languages at over 1000 polling locations and cost the taxpayers $27 million each year? Do you think special treatment should be given to legal immigrants who vote in the elections by having ballots printed in their native language?
