"I'm not here to talk about specifics...What we need is hope" OK, now that we know he doesn't want to take a position, or have any specific plans....How can anyone take him seriously?

He's a liberal democrat (actually, one of the worst). He has no position. Just like the rest of 'em. Even if they have one, it has probably changed since they last time they were pressed on the issue or had to vote. They stand for NOTHING. And, as we all know, if you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything!

I haven't seen this report yet, but going by what you said: He said "I'm not *here* to talk about specifics." That doesn't mean that "he doesn't want to take a position" or "doesn't have any specific plans," because he's already put forth one of the several Warring Proposals in Congress.
EDITED TO ADD:
On his website, it says: "The only hope to end this burgeoning civil war is for Shiites, Sunnis, and Kurds to come together and resolve their differences, and that's why Senator Obama agrees with the Iraq Study Group's conclusion that we must begin a phased redeployment of American troops to signal to the government and people of Iraq that ours is not an open-ended commitment."
Weird. Following the Iraq Study Group's plan sounds like a position to me.

I can't take him seriously anyway!!! He is being MADE into a star, just like a publicity agent would do for anyone, the media is jumping on the B.O. band wagon...sheesh...the guy can rap pretty good I guess, but he talks loud, and says nothing. Now Alan Keyes, he was a genius,...Colin Powel...there are very intellegent Men of color out there...but they have been put down.
