Why in this day and age of internet banking, can we not have an online voting system, with registered voters? We can do our taxes online, we can pay bill online, but we cannot vote online. I understand the security risks, but major issues can be voted on by the grass roots of the country, leaving politician with no option but to answer why or why not to the issue at hand.

I see where you're coming from. I think the government hasn't said anything about it because they feel too much personal information is being transferred, and someone could steal the info off of your computer. But that still wouldn't make much sense, because of all the information given through taxes and banking can still be stolen by someone (although it is VERY hard to do). Good Question, though.

That isn't the point of living in a republic. What you are describing is a democracy like ancient Greece. In the U.S. we choose representatives to go to Washington D.C. to represent us. If we decided to all vote why would we need representatives?

The point of having representatives is so that we do not have to bother with the day to day task of running a country. If your local representative is not what you are looking for as a representative, either run against him or support somebody running against him.

Because if a liberal agenda was defeated online, there would be a record wailing from the left on how insecure internet voting is.

stable thought pondering the way US govt has been by potential of-passing the matters. If the commonplace public might desire to vote on border risk-free practices it could have been finished a while in the past. possibly in case you took out a petition & made copies for others to get signed i ask your self what could ensue.

Because this country is a REPRESENTATIVE REPUBLIC, not a democracy.

What you propose is MOB RULE.
