These elites coming from their gated estates have nothing in common with the real citizens of this country. They claim they want to protect the environment, yet have homesteads consuming hundreds of acres of land, most of it vacant. They claim to care about the homeless and downtrodden, yet they own multiple homes. They claim to care about energy conservation but oppose the placement of wind turbines because they would ruin their view of the ocean.

They are out of touch with normal Americans.

Harry - You're right, but conservative aren't the ones running around pretending to be for the little guy. Do you think Ted Kennedy has worked a day in his life? As for companies making profits...what's wrong with that?

Don't expect a lot of support in this venue. It's obviously overloaded with lib's like Hillary Clinton and Danny Glover asking inane questions.

I'm not naive enough to think that only dem's live in gated estates. If you want to win an election in this country, you HAVE to come from money. There's just no way to get elected without being able to network and advertise. An 'average joe' doesn't stand a chance.

What I can't stand though is the hypocracy that says that republicans are for the rich and dem's are for the poor. They are all for the rich.

The difference is that republicans support the rich in ways that have a positive impact on the economy and ultimately help the middle and lower classes. It does not benefit the poor to penalize the rich for being rich. Minimizing the size and impact of government has a positive impact on all classes.

Dem's on the other hand, support their rich friends--like trial lawyers and union officials--who oppress the poor. Their ultimate goal is to enslave the poor without their even knowing it (they're pretty close to achieving this state).

Dem's pretend to be a friend to the poor, promising this, that, and the other program, while failing to acknowledge (or perhaps even recognize) the harm most of these programs do either in their administration or their tax burden on the economy.

Wow!!! I never cease to be amazed at what conservative talk radio has managed to convince some people of!

For example, I'll bet you think that George W Bush is a regular Joe, a working man, a man of the people... Hahahaha! Bush is a THIRD GENERATION BAJILLIONAIRE!!! He has never worked a day in his life, and his trail of failed businesses and now national policies illustrate his lack of common sense and experience.

The Republican Party is the party that is for gated estates, hummers, and big business... How in the heck do you continue to fail to grasp this? Read ONE headline in the news this week and you will see that the Rich (gated community people) are getting richer. Did you see that Exxon Mobile recorded the largest profit EVER last quarter? And I don't mean the largest profit for them or the largest profit for an oil company, I mean THE LARGEST one quarter profit ever recorded by any company ever in the history of the world, and it happened while you and I are paying record high gas prices.

Wake up!

You can say the exact same thing about many "conservative" politicians, including our "great" President.

I'd like to see a "normal" American win a national election, but it takes serious money to run a campaign nowadays. Maybe you should support public financing of campaigns?
