This is a three part question that being practice right now in the so called "Free World"
Is it ok for government and law personel to break the law to enforce the law in certain situations ie National Security?
Should people give up some freedom to have more Nationl Security or should people give up more National Security to have more freedom? (Remember 911 and London)
Also do you think public media is the governments tool to divert or distract attention away from the "Truth" of whats going on in the world around us. ie World's resources are being depeleated, civil liberties are being overlook in the name of national security, and were on a collision course to a one world government due to greed. Yet there are many people who reather watch their favorite televison show, complain about Bush and Blair and this whole Iraq deal (We need oil we like our cars and toys) and do nothing about it. Is this due to the media training us to be a polar society or do we really care?

It seems like people are voting for Huckabee purely because his religion is the same as theirs. He started doing well when he ran as a "christian leader" in TV ads and in speeches. Obviously Romney can't change his religion, so he explained the place of religion in politics and that his religion wouldn't control him if elected.

Despite that speech Huckabee has continued to surge. Do people in Iowa care more about the personal religion of a candidate than their positions on issues or ability to win the general election?

Romney is much closer to them on every issue, including taxes and immigration and he's running ads in Iowa on immigration now.

What else do you think he can do to retake his lead there? What does he need to say in the debate tomorrow?

I have checked the C.A.I.R. website, so far there has been nothing in response to this heinous crime:
http://www.cair.com/Home.aspx

CAIR claims that part of their "mission" is to "protect civil liberties". Hmm...why do you suppose they wouldn't they be among the very FIRST to condem the brutal murder of a Muslim child? Isn't life itself the most important "civil liberty"?

I have always wanted to be a liberal while growing up. I've read about martin luther king jr and his achievements. It was one of many accomplishments that liberals have made in the past that has inspired me to become one. Unfortunatly many years have passed since the great dr. martin luther king jr was the face liberalism. Now the fights that are waged by liberals have made me veire away from becoming one. Standpoints like rights and benefits for illegal immigrants. fighting for humain treatment to those who attacked us or planed to harm us. where has the true liberals gone? where are the liberals who have fought for Americans rights in the past to make our country what it is today? where are the liberals who made me want to become one when I was a young boy? As I've gotten older it seems they have disappeared, and the only place you can find one is in a history book. Why is this? why can't liberals of today inspire me and others like me as thev'e done in the past?

Time's Joe Klein: So Nancy Pelosi Knew About Waterboarding, So What?
By Ken Shepherd
Created 2007-12-10 11:14

Quickly reacting to the December 9 Washington Post's [1] front page revelation yesterday that some Democrats, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi knew about waterboarding interrogation techniques YEARS ago, Time's Joe Klein sought to silence criticism of Democratic hypocrisy.

Klein's excuse? Democrats were swept up by post-9/11 fear and paranoia [2]:

Now, there is going to be a lot of shouting and breast-beating over this. Republicans will say, "See! See! The Democrats knew all along!" Some of the more extreme elements on the left-wing of the Democratic Party will lapse into their traditional wailing about the Bush-appeasing weakness of their party leaders. But the Washington Post reporters and their sources make clear that these briefings took place in the months after the September 11 attacks. There was fear that we would be attacked again by terrorists, and on a regular basis. Few were thinking clearly about the nature of the threat and how to deal with it. (By the time Harman was briefed, in 2003, people were thinking more clearly--hence her letter of protest.)

So does Klein think that the risk of America being attacked is now extremely remote? If so, what share of credit would he give to President Bush for that fact? Oh wait, that would cut against his persistently negative drumbeat about the Bush presidency and how it has supposedly harmed American security and foreign policy interests in the long-term, particularly in the Middle East.

As much as Klein wishes to dismiss Democratic knowledge of waterboarding as an interrogation technique, hypocrisy and political opportunism IS a huge issue here, particularly given one crucial tid bit the WaPo article disclosed to readers. Politicians briefed about the interrogation techniques wondered if the CIA was being too, how shall we say, polite to detainees (emphasis mine):

Among the techniques described, said two officials present, was waterboarding, a practice that years later would be condemned as torture by Democrats and some Republicans on Capitol Hill. But on that day, no objections were raised. Instead, at least two lawmakers in the room asked the CIA to push harder, two U.S. officials said.

"The briefer was specifically asked if the methods were tough enough," said a U.S. official who witnessed the exchange.

While Klein excuses Pelosi's silence in the aftermath of 9/11, doesn't that suggest that the liberal San Francisco Democrat didn't have the courage of her convictions to "stand up" to President Bush when liberals would argue such leadership was most needed: the aftermath of 9/11? And doesn't that suggest that liberal Democratic haranguing on the issue now is nothing more than a cynical sop to the party's left-wing anti-war base, and a concerted effort to undermine the Bush administration specifically and the war on terror generally?

Apparently not to Joe Klein, who can't be bothered with such questions mucking up his preferred storyline.
