What's good will he have to say.The economy is lousy, our soldiers are still being killed. People are losing their homes. Supermarkets prices are up. Gas prices are up. What gives?

He'll read whatever rhetoric Dick Cheney writes for him. He'll have to practice the big words a bit and might need a device in his ear to pronounce them correctly.

Probably more of his daily one line rhetoric like "stay the course" or black and white brainwashing "you are either with us or against us"?

He is required from time to time to give to the Congress information on the State of the Union and recommend to their consideration such necessary and expedient measures as he deems required. The President did not begin meeting that requirement via an address to a Joint Session of the Congress until Woodrow Wilson became President in 1913.
The economy has grown over 4% during the year, the deaths of U.S. military personnel in Iraq and Afghanistan are nowhere near the active duty deaths during the eight years of the previous administration (7,500) nor the active duty death rate from 1980 to 1984 (9,555) and a little over one million may have foreclosure actions carried out on their homes because they bought more than they could afford. Supermarket prices are up because the cost of fuel is up. The cost of fuel is up because we haven't built one new refinery in this country in over thirty years while adding gobs of vehicles to our roads.
But, blame it all on George Walker Bush because he isn't the Federal Wizard King you expect.

Yes. I believe it is written into our laws that a state of the union message shall be delivered by the president. We will see what he has to say when it happens.
