The law has been applied unevenly under Bushco.
It seems the right wing churches can say what they want but I've heard of churches that said something against the war that got their letter from the IRS.

While I can't speak for all churches, the one I attend, I can guarantee is not making a profit. So we are exempt form taxes anyway. I did hear of one just north of us that is actually going to open it's own bank. It is huge. I really don't see how they can be tax exempt.
