I'm in my first semester of college but the college that I go to doesn't have a Navy ROTC program, it only has Army ROTC. I was thinking about transferring to a college that has Navy but all of the colleges near me that have it are too difficult to get into. If I enlisted in the Navy now, what are the ways in which I could become an officer someday?

Apparently after 3 late payments, they deducted the payment from his pay. I now know that he was supposed to send in info letting them know he was going on deployment. My question is, is there any way to get this money back? Can we send the deployment info in and get refunded the late fees? I've looked up their policies online and i cant seem to find anything relating to this. Anyone have this problem?

We all know that Bush is an intellectual lightweight and hasn't really made any of the decisions for which he is responsible. I suspect he will admit as much 10-15 years from now when the unmitigated disaster of his presidency is no longer seen with any ambiguity. He will candidly admit that he was in way over his head and took bad advice (lots of bad advice) from people he trusted. He will lament the things that happened while he was president, but he will disavow all responsibility.

There's a lesson to be learned here. The president needs to be intellectually sharp and capable of understanding the complex issues involved with governing the entire free world. He needs to be wise enough to solicit conflicting opinions and intelligent enough to digest all viewpioints before formulating coherent policy. In other words, we should never have another Republican president. I would love to see the party of intellectual malaise go the way of the Whig....

Ok, they made a big deal about the millions that have been spent on new sirens to warn of an emergency at Indian Point Nuclear Power plant.

They just ran a test and it is the OLD sirens that are being used (you can tell, because the old sirens spin around).

What's the point? Shouldn't they be testing the new sirens?

This guy looked like he was 17 or 18 outside of 7-11 and asked me to buy him some smokes. I am a smoker so my understanding of his situation may have led to my negligent judgement. Do you think it is was wrong of me, the legal age in NY, Long Island (Suffolk Co.) is 19 but in Virginia they sell them to 18 year olds, so I didn't feel like I was doing anything against the law considering it a foolish law to have different regulations in different states because of profit reasons.
