I learn something new every day here. It's really why I keep coming back, although the chuckles help as I search for the nugget of knowledge.

Yes! Sometimes I learn different perspectives and sources of information for an issue that I find interesting. Sometimes folks will read the same source and come away with totally different opinions. Overall, I've learned that some seem to find their comfort zone within 'Liberal' or 'Conservative' labels while others are more 'issue driven' in their views and thus see the labels as constrictive. No real surprise there, but it's fun to watch how 'comfort zones' play out. Sometimes I just learn that when I stick to my own 'comfort zone' (many sources; no insults) my questions are incredibly uninteresting :-)

There are a few people on here that I read any question or answer they have because while I know they differ in opinion from myself, their posts are always well thought out and non-attacking. I can't stand reading the rhetoric like "I learn that liberals hate America" or "I learn that conservatives are fascist".

Most Americans are neither liberal or conservative. For the first time in American history more people claim to be independent then for a certain party. So we have a lot more in common then what is often portrayed on this site. Just like with religion, the political extremists are hurting this country.

Many of the posters are not interested in learning anything. All they want to do is inflame others. They make it a game of bait and gotcha. Those are often the trolls who have no life or anything else to do so they sit in front of the computer getting their jollies by getting others upset. Sometimes we play the game with them and sometimes we don't.

I learn a few things by researching the facts behind questions, but usually some obscure thing that doesn't matter.

Case in point: I learned a few days ago about the mayor of Podunk, TX being caught touching somebody the wrong way.

Can't say much of what I learn here enriches my life, but every so often there is something interesting.

I've learned that the hardcore supporters (both left and right) always try to get in at least one cheap shot on the other side.

Exhibit A: some of the answers you've gotten so far are no different.

Well i have learned what i have always known there are far out whackos on the right and far out whackos on the left. Us normal sane and logical folks always get caught in the middle. Kind of like a parent breaking up a fight between two school yard bullies. Neither side will "win" but in the end the voice of reason will prevail!

Of course. Some are educational. Others about human nature. I've been called names by both sides, which I find pretty humorous, but hey, whatever flips their skirts, eh? My favorites are the "people like YOU" comments from one side, as if they didn't read my post earlier that they would have agreed with. Very funny.

Your first answer is what I am talking about. I have answered some of your questions and even agreed with you a few times . I Like reading your Q&As even though I do not always agree.

I learn the arguments of the conservative side, and sometimes agree. It's good to have an open mind. You can learn from both sides if you actually listen.
