Apparently after 3 late payments, they deducted the payment from his pay. I now know that he was supposed to send in info letting them know he was going on deployment. My question is, is there any way to get this money back? Can we send the deployment info in and get refunded the late fees? I've looked up their policies online and i cant seem to find anything relating to this. Anyone have this problem?

the star card used to be called DPP (Deferred Payment Plan) but i told all my soldiers it stands for Dumb Privates Program.
since they are controlled by AAFES, your not getting your money back. he shouldve paid the monthly payment regardless of deployment or not. under the soldiers sailors act he has the right to reduced interest rates but he doesnt have the right to non payment.

No you will not get any money back. Regardless of deployment you still have to make payments. I would cut up the card and finish paying it off. You can set up to have the minimum payment taken out from your checking account. That way you don't have to worry about it anymore.

Unfortunately you and your husband broke the agreement for the card by not informing them of the deployment. This means they can and evidently did invoke their privilege to get the money owed them and the appropriate fee's/fines. You can appeal this, but you are most likely going to lose the appeal. An appeal means you will spend more of your time and effort into a lost cause because you owe the money. You must ask yourself is it worth the effort of an appeal to recover a pittance in fee's?

Sorry but your not getting your money back.. before your husband Deployed he or you with your POA should have presented them with a copy of his Orders , they will lower your interest rate down to 6% . however you still have to make payments, you can pick one of two Options.. 1 lower to 6% and continue using the card, or 2 have 6% interest but do not use the card.
I would call them to make sure they got his orders on file and that you are getting 6% interest right now, if they dont have it as things get lost or misplaced you should fax a copy of his orders ( make sure his name is on the orders) and a copy of your POA in to them and call back write down the name of the person you spoke to , the time and date.

Good Luck

i doubt it.... you could alwys try calling them... did your husband give you a POA? if he did {and its a general one}hen you can fax them a copy of the POA and then talk to them, as his legal voice.

star card payments are pretty low.. why ddnt he just pay the bill? or you? if you sign up thru aafes.com or navy-nex.com, you can pay them online.... saves all the extra hassle

also, after teh first missed payment they send out a letter, to the billing address stating that you missed a payment.. then after teh 2nd you get one saying that you missed a payment and if you dont make a payment your command will be
notified, after the 3rd payment, they contact the command and start garnishing wages....

I doubt you will get the money back! Just because your husband is deployed doesn't mean you don't have to pay your bills anymore!! You should have taken care of all of this before he left, or you could have done it!

Sorry, no refunds. This is one of those things that you both should have discussed BEFORE he left, and you could have been making the payments on it.

no. he was informed at his pre deployment briefings what was required of him. he failed to do so, so you have to eat the late fees.

trust me, this was discussed more than once.
