The Marxist explanation would be false consciousness, as in a vanguard party needs to educate the masses. Another explanation is that in a society that does have social mobility, a lot of people who are poor or middle class feel they will do much better down the road so they don't want to pay big taxes when they do strike it rich. Maybe that's a mirage, but we live in a world of aspirations.

Are you talking about social programs like TANF (food stamps)? Because the typical aversion to such programs is that it's a "hand-out", or that taking it would be admitting defeat or poverty, all of which are hard hits to the ego.
When discussing things like taxes, people tend to vote against large taxes to the poor because they believe that they will someday be in the realms of the super rich. A pipe dream to most, and most won't attain their goal, but the overpowering dream dictates decision.

First of all, your premise about the "rich" taking money from the poor is a complete fallacy.
Second of all, you do not have a right to you neighbor's property. As long as that person earned it fairly, you have no claim against it.
Third, stealing from the rich to give to the poor is still stealing. Two wrongs do not make a right.
Social programs are a government monopoly and therefore a form of tyranny. All people, rich and poor, should fight government tyranny. I'd rather be poor and free, than rich and enslaved.
Class warfare is just a political game to buy votes. It's a shame that our society is so uneducated and ignorant that it still works.

These programs are tough to get into. They always have a ctach to them. Like to keep some you have to remain under a certain income just to receive them which means you are encouraging poverty by doing so. Alot other programs have so many requirements it's better to just work two jobs and tough it out. About rich people getting all the money causing others to remain poor is such a dumb thing to say. You mean to tell me that I work my butt off to make something for myself and I should not expect to make profit from my business? People stay poor because they choose to and have lesser priorities in thier minds like buying big screen tvs and pick up trucks they cant afford, in this country you are compensated for putting out into the economy and just like I was poor and soon to open my business and finish my degrees I dont want anyone on my *** about my business profiting....trust me...I live in my car for a whole year just to get where I am. People should really see these social levels in a different light.

Nonsense. the wealthy human beings in this united states of america pay fairly much all the taxes in Federal and state budgets and the Liberals save calling for extra entitlements, bigger taxes on human beings collectively as lessening their very own burden. Why do Liberals desire raiding the Treasury for his or her very own income? I actual have an thought...a VAT tax which each and each American pays. Now this is a honest tax, and Canada has the comparable device. you opt for extra government then pay for it. i'm a small enterprise proprietor and self employed, and what the Democrat's thought is brutal for my enterprise. this is undesirable sufficient I ought to pay the two ends of Social protection and ny State's outrageous state and native taxes, yet Obama needs to enhance the cap on SS taxes. this is a 21K tax enhance on the self employed who make under 250K. Now, tell me back how the Democrats have my decrease back because of the fact I only are not getting it? EDIT: seem at THEIR solutions. "loss of advice", "lack of know-how", etc. communicate approximately lack of know-how? I stay IT. they seem to be a team of babies listening to those that promptly income from MY intense TAXES. WHAT A shaggy dog tale.

The programs may be designed to help me, but who is going to end up paying for it in the end . . . ME. What's to say that I would qualify for these programs anyway - although I fall into the poorer middle class??!? It's all talk.

I am for social programs but against their abuse. Helping people trying to help themselves is not a waste to me. Helping children that cannot help themselves, regardless if their parents are worthless, is a must to me.
