i got a job at the dollar store last week. my first shift went smoothly without any problems, but i copied someone else's schedule down for my second shift by mistake. i was supposed to work in the morning that day, but i thought that my shift was in the evening and i stayed at home. i did not receive any phone call from work asking me why i didn't show up, so i had no idea that i was going for someone else's shift when i went to work in the evening. my manager there told me that my shift was in the morning, and i missed it. she said that they didn't need me to work for them anymore. she asked me to come the next day for my last shift, and that they'll mail me my pay cheque.the reason they gave me for firing me was that i didn't show up for my scheduled shift. i had the feeling that the manager did not like me, but firing me like that seems a bit extreme. so i was wondering if i should do something about it?like is there a law that prevents employees from getting fired for stupid thing

I live in North Carlina, USA. We are paid bi-weekly and some of us are averaging like 40 hours of overtime per pay period, the money is nice, but I am reaching burn-out, especially with 4 small kids at home (who are not in day care-because its so expensive) and the shift I work being 3rd shift. What makes it even worse is that I wasn't told of all this mandatory overtime when I applied for and got this job 7 months ago. I'm coming to find out that the superivisor who interviewed me lied and wasn't forthcoming about a lot of things with this job. My question is-- Is all the overtime legal? Are there any labor laws being broke and if so, how can I shed some light on what's happening without getting myself in any trouble with the job? This not a bad job, but its physical and involves being on my feet continuously and some heavy lifting. Our busy season sometimes lasts 2-3 months at a time, with small spurts betweeen. The mail is stacked from floor to ceiling
and has to be"moved" by morning.

FROM THE DESK OF LEROUX DENIS
BILL AND EXCHANGE MANAGER,
BANK OF AFRICA (BOA)
OUAGADOUGOU, BURKINA FASO.

Dear Friend,
I know that this letter may come to you as a surprise but i got your contact through the internet
when i was seaching for a reliablie person who will assist me as i need a reliable and honest business partner outside Burkina Faso.I am writing to seek your interest over a transaction, In my department, We discovered an abandoned sum of $30m US dollars (THIRTY MILLION US DOLLARS) . In an account that belongs to one of our foreign customer who died along with his entire family in November 2001 in a plane crash.
Since we got information about his death, we have been expecting his next of kin to come over and claim his money because we cannot release it unless somebody applies for it as next of kin or relation to the deceased as indicated in our banking guidelines but unfortunately we learnt that all his supposed next of kin or relation died alongside with him at the plane crash leaving nobody behind for the claim. It is therefore upon this discovery that I and other officials in my department now decided to make this business proposal to you and release the money to you as the next of kin or relation to the deaceased for safety and subsequent disbursement since nobody is coming for it and we don’t want this money to go into the Bank treasury as unclaimed Bill.
The Banking law and guideline here stipulates that if such money remained unclaimed after some years, the money will be transferred into the Bank treasury as unclaimed fund. The request of a foreigner as next of kin in this business is occasioned by the fact that the customer was a foreigner and a Burkinabe cannot stand as next of kin to a foreigner.
We agree that 30 % of this money will be for you as foreign partner, in respect to the provision of a foreign account, 10 % will be set aside for expenses incurred during the business and 60 % would be for me and my colleagues. There after I and my colleagues will visit your country for disbursement according to the percentages indicated. Therefore to enable the immediate transfer of this fund to you as arranged, you must apply first to the bank as relation or next of kin of the deceased indicating your bank name, your bank account number, your private telephone and fax number for easy and effective communication and location where in the money will be remitted to .
Upon receipt of your reply, I will send to you the details of the whole transaction. I will not fail to bring to your notice that this transaction is hitch free and that you should not entertain any atom of fear as all required arrangements have been made for the transfer .You should contact me immediately as soon as you receive this letter.Trusting to hear from you immediately.
Your’s faithfully,
LEROUX DENIS

I used paypal for ebay and had impeccable feedback of over 300. .Unfortunately someone in the house got their paypal account shut down and because we have the same address they suspended mine, I did talk to someone at the time, but there was nothing they could do. This was a couple of years ago, and I've since been without an account. Can I reapply? If my partner opened a paypal account would they stop his too as he is at the same address.
BTW the person has now moved out...

A friends house was searched several months ago and 2 felony charges resulted; possession of cntrlled substnc and possession precursor with intent to manufacture. Thats not what was going on...they found a few old baggie corners and an old container they said contained a precursor. His lawyer filed a motion for discovery, but they are unable to produce any lab reports or evidence. Will these charges be dropped or will case procede?

VERY long story. My friend's husband asked for a divorce in July. She was shocked but wanting to keep it as clean as possible she let her son go stay with him in Germany where they were stationed at the time while she tried to get things together back "home" here in TX. The agreement was that in DEC her son be brought back to the states to reside with her. Now her husband is threatening not to bring her child back. We have no Idea what to do next. She wasn't actually SERVED with divorce papers but has seen a rough draft of his intentions.
The story is even more complex than I can write- but to sum it up, her husband left her here without a car, job, home or dime. And every lawyer wants 3000 up front to take her case.

Ok...here's the deal.

I sold a high dollar item on eBay ($1,500) to someone overseas. He paid me via WesterUnion, so I have the cash in hand, AND, he has already left me positive feedback.

Here;s where I become the bad guy right...? Well, I am very financially strapped, and could really use the money, and am thinking about selling it again, to someone in the USA for a little bit cheaper, because the overseas guy paid with cash, so he would not be able to get his money back or even leave negative feedback since he already left positive feedback...

But I am stuck between "Do I do the right thing and ship him his item", or "Do I double dip knowing there will be no financial repercussions so my family and I can have some more money for savings?"

Okay. Im 18. I have asked a prior question before.

I want to recruit myself since I want to persue my career in the airline industry/commercial pilot. Thus I want to join so they can pay my tuition(very expensive). I think people misunderstood me by thinking I only wanted to 'use' or take advantage of the military force.

The fact is I also want to join because I have a passion for planes, I'm willing to work with planes all my life. But preferable being a pilot. So the reason for joining is of course to fight our freedom, but also to work with their planes (engineering?) and have a helping hand to pay for my flights.

I have bad eyes to fly the air force jets, so I would join to inspect their planes, Which I believe is engineering?

Also would it matter which military branch I would chose to work with planes, I have seen the US Navy have jets in their ship.

How would I go about with this. How would you do? I just need a little facts. Thanks. ;)
