A sales person came to my office selling a promotional gift certificate to a new salon and spa. The certificate allows you to make appointments for several different services such as pedicure, manicure, haircut, highlights, deep conditioning treatment, etc. You must use the certificate within 4 months and only obtain 2 services at each visit. My coworkers and I thought it was a great deal. The salon is new in town and the sales person said instead of investing in ads, signs, etc the owner wanted to offer these services to build up her clientele. We called the business and verfied this was not a scam. Well, I called today to make an appt and was told these certificates are fraudulent and that the employee that verified them is no longer with the salon. They said the district attorney has info on this. I have called the police to file a report. But, what are the legal ramifications? Can I get my money back and does the owner have to reimburse me since her former employee verified these?
