Isn't this country all about freedom? Isn't a liberal a liberated or a freed person?
So why is it so wrong or so hard to deal with that there are Liberals in our liberated country?
Isn't an American motto: Life, LIBERTY and the pursuit of Happiness. Not Life, CONSERVATISM, and the persecution of Happiness.
Why are Conservatives soooooo judgemental, yet said to be Christians? Don't strict Christians believe that God is the only one to pass judgement?
Enlighten me Conservative believers out there. I am an American with an open mind and I am willing to take your non-rude answers.
Eternal Blessings to all.

I did not say I was a Liberal, so I am not putting labels on myself.
I also did not say that Liberal and Liberty are synonyms. I made a comparison based on the roots of the words.
P.S. Conservatives: So if you are so against abortion, who will take care of the unwanted babies? You volunteer?

I think it is important to discriminate between political conservatism and personal ideology. In America there is a polarization between liberal and conservative political policy. While many people claim that either their liberal agenda or their conservative agenda align with this doctrine or that belief system, in reality, they don't and this is separation of church and state: not simply keeping religion out of politics, but keeping politics out of religion.
Also, please be careful not to generalize. I know many conservatives who are not judgmental and many liberals who are, but that does not mean that all people who identify politically one way or they other can be classified in such ways.
And as to America being a liberal country, be careful how you use the word liberal. While liberal in its purist form simply means not to be bound to orthodoxy and tradition, political liberalism of America today doesn't always represent this pure ideology. Both political parties have their strengths and faults and it is a shame that there are not more political parties in the American system to support the greater diversity of thoughts and beliefs of the American people.

it quite is the textbook definition of what a liberal is, yet because it truly is been followed into American politics, the definition alterations fairly. the wonderful, common rationalization of a political spectrum is in case you imagine a plane, like a graph. The x-axis is own freedom, and the y-axis is monetary freedom. you are able to't have 0 values, and consequently being on the starting place could be total own and monetary administration- a statist. Statism oftentimes starts out with monetary administration, and consequently forces the own controls by using a socialist or communist route. (attempt controlling the way you spend your funds at the same time as letting you do even with you want). in case you're taking the own freedom constriction route and trust in social cleansing and such, its a fascist route, which ends turning monetary. (attempt controlling human beings's own stay, yet enable them spend funds how they please). The extreme own freedom, yet low monetary freedom is the democrat/liberal end (in it truly is empirical experience) Likewise, low own freedom, yet extreme monetary freedom is the republican/ conservative end of the spectrum. finally, the extreme own freedom, and extreme monetary freedom end is the libertarian aspect. maximum folk fall someplace on that plane, and extremely, very infrequently on absolutely the corners, notwithstanding the biggest component is that there is warfare of words. without enormous difference of concepts, a unmarried journey could reason sweeping replace it quite is later regretted (9/11 ensuing contained in the patriot act and a warfare, that now maximum individuals could a minimum of imagine two times about) you want human beings from all ends to make certain that democracy to paintings, if anybody has a similar concepts, then what's the adaptation between this and a dictatorship? the purely way they could evaluate it undesirable is in the journey that they disagree with you, and do not comprehend that we favor human beings of the opposing opinion to operate as a society

Liberal is different than the word "liberty". Similar word origin but a different meaning. Liberalism is a political philosophy. And a perfectly legitimate political philosophy at that. So is conservatism. However, I think the reason that you hear so many negative statements about liberalism, other than differences in opinion on policy, like how some say it is a flawed philosophy is because that is one of the main arguments of neoconservatism, currently the dominating philosophy in the Republican party. One of the main points of neoconservatism is that the liberals "had it wrong" and they were right. So that is why they bash liberalism altogether rather than just disagreeing with it. I've never liked that kind of talk, and I'm a moderate but I always found it disrespectful, but that is the main reason you hear it.

One can be a strict Christian and not a conservative voter, and one can be a liberal thinker and not a liberal voter....but we are all Americans, and most no matter our views politically, only want the best for our country.

You have to understand that the term "liberal" is something the leftists in the US have co-opted to sell themselves as a non-threat to the country and the constitution. It is a lie. True liberal thought is actually Conservative ideology. Liberal government is what our constitution is all about. This is the actual definition of liberalism as it applies to government:
>>A political theory founded on the natural goodness of humans and the autonomy of the individual and favoring civil and political liberties, government by law with the consent of the governed, and protection from arbitrary authority.
An economic theory in favor of laissez-faire, the free market, and the gold standard.<<
You'll see "autonomy of the individual and favoring civil and political liberties". However, today's "liberal" advocates more governmental control over individuals and less political liberty. They are also completely opposed to laissez-faire government (which means opposing economic interventionism and taxation by the state beyond that which is perceived to be necessary to maintain individual liberty, peace, security, and property rights). The modern "liberal" favors economic inervention and heavy taxation to apply to unnecessary and abused social programs. They are constantly fighting the free market by imposing draconian laws against businesses.
The Libertarian is actually the true Liberal as refers to government ideology. They favor no government intrusion into an individuals life true laissez-faire government, they support the free market and advocate no governmental controls on business and they are completely opposed to individual federal taxation. The Liberatrian is the true supporter of the US Constitution and the nation our founding fathers set out to build.
But you just don't get it. You think all Conservatives are evangelical Christians which is just rediculously ignorant. You ask for non-rude answers but your question (which term I use lightly) is highly offensive to true Conservatives. You make claims like Conservatives persecuting happiness and that we are judgemental and then have the temerity to label answers as rude.
Sometimes I can't believe I waste my time on questions like this. But you asked to be enlightened.

Liberals are not liberal! I am a fiscal conservative who believes in social justice. Liberals want to take as much of my money as possible, control every aspect of our lives, and then refer to themselves as Liberal?

don't expect a decent answer here. Conservatives are 100 percent wrong about Liberals 99 percent of the time. Their idea of a Liberal is someone they would call a baby killer and a socialist. They wouldn't know a Liberal if they bumped into one.

Look up the definition of "liberal" in a dictionary. You are drawing comparisons that do not exist.
Liberals want the government to run everything. Liberals want to run the government. They will say or do anything to reach their goals.
I have been living with liberals all of my life. So it is possible to co-exist. I will not compromise my conservative principals just to get along.
Liberals have a basically un-American or anti-American philosophy.

Liberals today have nothing in common with classical liberalism (Republicans). A classical liberalist named James Madison ("father of the constitution") started the Republican party.
Today's liberals are collectivists. The writers of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence wouldn't want anything to do with them since the writers believed in capitalism, not socialism. Why do you think America is such a wealthy country?
