Bashing Cheney today....

How dare he think he even ranks among those who are even capable of rendering an opinion?

His own presidency was a total failure !!!!!!!!!

He was a complete laughing stock........

Would you want to have the camps restored for historical value or would you want them DESTROYED...out of pure resentment?
The reason I am asking is because Bush just signed an executive order to have something like 38 million dolars of grant monies, to unidentified private companies and also some state organizations..ie the (Oregon Parks and Recreation) to restore WWII internment camps restored...I don't get it? http://www.nwasianweekly.com/20072601/nation20072601.htm

The 'conservatives' that I know seem to not worry about: the money they spend, the energy they use, or how their actions affect the world at large (conservatives: liberal spending, liberal consumption, liberal actions).

The 'liberals' I know: recycle, conserve energy, don't eat meat, and are overly obsessed with how their actions affect the world (liberals: conserve resources, conserve life, conservative consumption, concerned about impact).

Why is it that the very description of both of these words negate the word itself? What is the reason these words (conservative, liberal) are used to describe the opposite action?

(ps- the question set forth does not necessarily reflect the views of the author... this is just a question that came up in conversation).

I think its time for some clarity on this site. Enough already with the right-wing counterpart of blatant pornography.

We never should have went into Iraq in the first place, thats obvious. Now that's its a raging mess the declining GOP is out of tricks, out of wedge issues, and out of time.

Now, as a last-ditch effort to stay in the game, the Republicans are like "Well, you liberals WANTED us to lose, and you LOVE our enemies".

Really? And no-one notices how childish and flimsy that argument is for not accepting responsibility for your staunch partisan alignment with Bush in 2003, even if some Democrats were scared into voting for this war? Sure

Please. This tripe wouldnt be so sad were it not for our drained military, increased US troop casuality, and a sinking GOP that bet all its chips on Rove's design to crush the Democratic party, which has in turn backfired

Now the reactionaries turn to the internet for solace. Can they admit blaming those against the war is wrong?

up and demand our Government listen to us? Maybe a civil war is brewing, or at least needed. Is it time we stand up for our rights to be safe and defend our country our selves? We have the right to bear arms and to form a militia according to the Constitution, maybe we should start doing this to protect ourselves from the invasion of ILLEGAL immigrants?

Why are most people who support the right to abort an unborn fetus so against executing criminals who have already made their choice?

Furthermore, isn't a bullet between a criminal's eyes much cheaper than sustaining them for the rest of their life?

Do these traffic rankings surprise you? Does this represent an accurate ranking order for how strong the candidates are in general or just among younger voters? What does the fact that Rudy and McCain are so low tell us about them?

All I hear about by conservatives is unfounded fear of socialism, yet this is exactly what has been going on for several decades in one huge aspect of the United States. This aspect I'm talking about, which is right at the surface, is our outrageous defense appropriations.

Defense spending is a major cash cow. Private corporations like defense contractors (haliburton) and high tech industries (boeing, lockhead, etc.) are given public subsidies and receive all the profits as private corporations. The US is the #1 defense spender (more than all countries combined!!!) and #1 arms dealer!! These two facts tell you quite clearly that the US keeps war factories running at the cost of US taxpayers. Wealthfare indeed.

If you are walking in a neighborhood late at night (no curfew) and the police stop you. They say 'there is a lot of vandalism occuring lately' and ask for your i.d. and begin to pat you down and tell you to pull out everything in your pockets without consent. Is that breaking the 4th amendment? and if they find anything(drugs), would it be admissable in court/ could you get the charges dropped?

I really need someone else's opinion on this matter.... I have a daughter, who does not live with me, so I have to pay child support. Unfortunately, money has been tight, and I could not pay the necessary amount. She still lives very, very comfortably. Just recently, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Revenue took $2,000.00 out of my checking account without informing me. I did not have that money in my account! Now, I am -$2000.00 in my account, and my daughter's mother is sitting pretty on my money. I now owe the bank the $2,000.00, plus overdraft fees. With the money I make, it will take me 3 weeks to pay that back! I don't have money to live anymore, no money for gas, for food, for mortgage, because I have to pay that back! They took money I did not have out of my checking account and left me to fend for myself. Should I contact a lawyer? This does not sound ethical! They cannot take what I do not have! Please give me your opinion!

My concern is that the same justification that the President used to convince the Congress that war in Iraq was a good idea to fund and subsequently go into, may be the same justification that another ocuntry might have to dethrone our President. Saddam's actions were only different from those our President has done because he actually killed citizens outright. Other than that, warrantless-wiretaps, war for profit, and a plethora of other things make the administrations very similar. The issue I have is that the way things have been done, any other world leader may consider this as a serious terrorist act and place America on the list to defeat in the "war on terror". Sometimes I wake up with panic attacks and sometimes when I watch the news I am bothered by how uncaring the news seems about the facts of the situation. War is an ugly business, we all know, but with Bush, it seems like a game or a way to make money, more than a moral imperative.

I think it is simply disgusting that Bush won't do the right things for political reasons. He looks the other way as countries like Turkey violate international law and abuse human rights in exchange for help in his useless and never ending war in Iraq.
