Turkey did not exist at the time of the genocide.
The nation of Turkey was formed after a revolution in the 1920's. The genocide was by the Ottoman Empire, the government over thrown by revolutionaries who then established the nation of Turkey.
Anyone who voted for this resolution is ignorant of the facts. Democrats who voted for this resolution are ignorant of the facts and are hypocrites who should hold themselves accountable for ethnic atrocities like the political support of slavery.

Not wishing to defend Bush but, Turkey does not wish to be reminded of the something that happened many years ago, the people alive today had nothing to do with it & I'm sure that they will deny it to the end because, to admit that their great grandfathers had something to do with it would be disrespectful. No one can change what happened & we do not wish to antagonize Turkey by insisting they accept responsibility for something that happend so long ago, thus we will not recoginze what happened in Armenia from 1886 thru 1923 as genocide, although 40 of our states do recognize the plight of those people & what happend to them. But, we have to protect our basing rights in Turkey so that we can have safe landing sites for all of those billion dollar planes we have flying over Iraq! Those planes help protect our troops, if they were to be denied landing bases because we insisted that the Turkish people acknowledge the past, we are being foolish. The proven truth is well known by most nations, to try to make Turkey admit something they obviously do not wish to revisit, would be a mistake on our part & cost us a friend in that area.

Well, it isn't revisionist history. The Turks committed the genocide against the Armenians. Everyone except the Turks knows this. Perhaps the Democrats are tired of us pretending it didn't happen, and perhaps also knowing the Turks will stop working with us they hope this will hasten the withdrawal of US troops from Iraq. Maybe they just want to make Bush look like an apologist for genocide, someone willing to put politics before doing the right thing.

It is not at all unusual for a political faction to use history to justify it's position. Yes, liberals in America may dredge up events from 65 (Japanese Internment), 90 (Armenian Genocide), 140 (Mexican-American war), or 150+ (Slavery) years ago to justify discrimination of one sort or another, today. But, that is as nothing compared to the grudges held by peoples in other parts of the world.
The truth, of course, if that once the people who actually perpetrated some great wrong (and those they perpetrated it upon) are all dead, there is no moral or ethical justification for doing anything other than remembering it as history, in the hopes of not repeating it.
Judging people, today, by what thier literal or figurative ancestors did in the past is simply and obviously wrong.

do you mean the Armenian genocide in the country of turkey?
it did happen(just like the Holocaust)but Turkish people rewrote the history(its the law in turkey).
why should we be revisiting it now? I don't know but your right it's stupid.but what do you expect out of our government? both the dems and the repubs are failures and lack leaderships skills.they have allowed the infrastructure of the government to fail to such a degree that few of the departments and agency's are working anymore. If your going to be outraged, be outraged about the silly stuff the politicians come up with.

So you obviously don't think that the extermination of 1.5 million Albanians is genocide then?
Even your President has claimed that this was the case. But now its politically not viable to do so, he retracts it.
The systematic attempt to destroy an entire race is genocide no matter when it was committed regardless whomever is squabbling over the timing or the semantics.

That's a ridiculous assertion. Why would a rise in casualties be connected to our presence in Turkey?
I know. Why do you assume they'd be injured at a faster rate than the troops in Germany, if they left?
