Think about it. You have the choices of the nominated candidates, or you can do a write-in ballot which most folks use for "Joe the Barber" or "Mr. Smith down at the drugstore".

If we all went to the polls and wrote in "ham sandwich" on a write-in ballot, neither nominated candidate would be elected and Congress would be forced to pass legislation and budgets by veto override (because there would be no one to sign stuff), just to keep the government running.

Effectively, Congress would have to come to a 2/3 concensus in both houses and would probably draft some pretty acceptable legislation.

Thoughts?

TV said that she would "tax state governments that make over 7 million" or something to this affect.

Why should my tax dollars be used to give to someone else's retirement?

How about instead of a government match we just lower taxes for every taxpayer by $1000.00, a flat amount?

Is it inevitable that Hillary will be on the ballot with the (D).

Do those of us who not support Hillary need to find another candidate in the Republican party where there is still some diversity of choices?

Yet they can't get out of there fast enough. They come here, fly their flag, never assimilate or learn the local lingo. If Mexico is so fantastic that you can't get enough of it's culture, why are you all here? If Mexico is so awful that you swarm over here in the millions, why don't you try something new? new country. new language, new life. When the U.S. is just like Mexico from the millions and millions of mexicans bringing that culture here, what are you going to do? Run up to Canada with that flag draped over the hood of your car?

Two months ago a lot of Republicans were going nuts for Fred Thompson.

And now, after bumbling in the debate last night, his star is falling and falling.

Any other repube with character was given less airtime than a Geico commercial. They showed Ron Paul only as a punching bag and didn't let him speak. Tancreado said a few good things too. Fred Thompson was a disgrace.

I think its a guarantee that if Al Gore wins the Nobel, he will run and subsequently crush Hillary in the Dems primaries.

As a conservative Republicam I'll go on record right now and say that if a Dem wins in 08', I'd support Gore before Hillary.

Just because America put them in power to stop the war, doesn't mean they should actually stop the war, does it? Maybe America was really voting to "curb misconduct by contractors"???

BELMONT, Calif. — Officials in Belmont have given final approval to a new smoking ban that is considered to be one of the toughest in the nation.

After a late push to ease some of the restrictions, the Belmont City Council voted Tuesday to pass the anti-smoking ordinance.

Prohibitions on smoking in parks and other public places will take effect in 30 days. The ordinance's most hotly contested elements — which ban smoking inside apartments and condominiums — won't be enforced for another 14 months.

Officials say the ordinance was written so that smokers will only face enforcement if their neighbors complain.

People will still be able to smoke on Belmont's streets and sidewalks as long as they are not loitering near the entrance to homes or businesses and in parking lots and designated smoking areas.

My daughter was a passenger in a car during a traffic stop. She was charged with UP.

She's an 18 year old college student. This is her first offence.

This happened in a small town in Central New York.

Can anyone tell us what she can expect to happen to her?

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide.

I heard that initiation into these makes you have sex with one of the elders members. Like Bush and John Kerry's dad or Kerry and Bush Sr. Kind of like the ancient Greeks. I am sure all the Presidents have done this if it is true. Is this just a rumor, I am kind of believing it cause they are so secretive.

I don't dislike gays at all, just curious about this organization.

Has anyone heard one single idea from Hillary that would increase your personal freedom? Have you heard one single idea that would decrease the intrusiveness or the power of the Imperial Federal Government? How about one idea that would promote competition in the free market?

Let’s not use this administration as an example, please. Bush will be out in a bit over a year, let’s look towards the future. Thanks!

in order to apply for U.S. citizenship? I was charged with assault and battery but it was self-defense. They didn't believe me but they dropped the charges anyway. On the citizenship application they ask you if you have been arrested before. Even if someone is not convicted of anything they consider that "lack of good moral character". Would I still have to wait to show 5 straight years of good moral character?
