Yet they can't get out of there fast enough. They come here, fly their flag, never assimilate or learn the local lingo. If Mexico is so fantastic that you can't get enough of it's culture, why are you all here? If Mexico is so awful that you swarm over here in the millions, why don't you try something new? new country. new language, new life. When the U.S. is just like Mexico from the millions and millions of mexicans bringing that culture here, what are you going to do? Run up to Canada with that flag draped over the hood of your car?

To add to this – Why does every other ethnic group come here, maintain pride in where they are from, and still manage to become part of the United States of America. What has made this country great for so long is that we have such a rich combination of backgrounds and cultures, all living together and contributing to one great country. How come only one culture seems to not want to be a part of this? Don’t they realize that by becoming a part of something bigger and better, they will get a LOT more than just cherry picking parts?
Again, where does this pride come from? Any Mexicans want to answer this? If your country is so great, and you love it so much, why are you here? If you’re here because you know that this is a better place to live, why don’t you want to become part of it.
(I know that many Mexicans have, I knew quite a few that are legal, and love this country. I’m talking to the ones that aren’t and don’t)

Pedro V – Please convince all the Mexicans of that and get them to go right the he11 back there. If it’s a better place, why are so many of them trying to leave? Truth is, it’s a 3rd world cesspool with a government so corrupt it makes the US gov. look legit. Maybe if 12-20 million of these people would stand up, they could make Mexico a better place instead of bringing the northern neighbor down to their level.

Answer: Because those are the 88% that stay in Mexico! The 12% of their population that they force north of their border they don't want...but those rejects of the Mexican government do so want to be like, part of and one with, the power that for all intent and purpose, Exhiled Them...Go Figure!
I believe that the Mexican government promised them that if they sent enough stolen American money back home that eventually even they would be welcome in Mexico...But told to Not Hold Their Breath for that!

I think Mexicans love Mexico because Mexico is great. It is warm, and has a very rich history. The reason that so many Mexicans want to come to the US is because Mexico's government sucks. It is riddled with corruption and the common person is kept dirt poor. These people want to escape the poverty and crime, but want to keep their identity. They would probably not be here if they could have it be ok in Mexico. The poorest Mexican immigrants in the US are living a better life that they were before they came here. Still, I do not condone coming to this country illegally, but I can at least understand why they are here, it is out of desperation. As for them wanting to fly their flag, so what? The Italians, Germans, Irish, Muslims, etc all do that too. Some black people walk around with their African garb (even though they aren't even African), etc. It just gives them an identity. This is what America was founded on. Everyone alive today who considers themselves an American has at least one not too distant relative who immigrated to America. Most young people can go back to great grandparents or great great grandparents.

If things got real bad here in the states and Mexico was a country rich with opportunity and you went across the border would you all of a sudden become Mexican? No way, you would still be a proud American!

Our Government, though, needs to stop being so politicaly correct and providing all of these services, food stamps, etc to ANY imigrant who is here illegally because it takes away from a US citizen, but if they want to display their heritage, why not.

I think we better start scouting out Canadian real estate now. Good point. I work with alot of mexicans that know English but prefer to speak "their language" which after listening to it for hours gives me a headache. We cant afford to take care of the poor and working poor here in our country, I wish this country would get more serious about the illegal immigrants here. It is not fair that they come here and dont pay taxes on their income, and ship it back to Mexico, then leave. Its no fun for the hard working middle class and lower class american citizens to struggle to make an honest living and watch the immigrants get away without paying their taxes too. The more I see signs being posted in English and Spanish, the more irritating it is. My grandparents were from Holland, and spoke Dutch when they got here. They learned English. They didnt expect everything posted in their language, and interpreters to translate for them. Unfortunately, this issue isnt going away though. Maybe the U.S. should annex Mexico and make it all American, think of all the tax revenue they could generate if they had to pay taxes and be citizens. I might not even mind the Spanish language then.

C'mon for the same reason we are proud to be from the United States. Most ppl are loyal to their country. You know, no one can help where they are from. The only thing you can judge ppl on is how they live their life. Who cares where they are from as long as they aren't out raping, murding, etc. There are good and bad in all countries. Have you ever been to Mexico? Some parts of that country are great and other parts not. It is really easy for us here in the good ol U.S to sit back and judge ppl on things we know nothing about. Think about it.

Good point and while I agree with you on many of your points, I do see many civic clubs and heritage social gatherings such as Celtic festivals, Sons of Norway, etc. for the descendants of immigrants. However, when my great grandfather immigrated from Sweden in 1907 at the age of 13, he embraced the American culture, learning the language without the benefit of today's technology and got a sponsor. He wanted to become an American cowboy...and was very proud to be here, and waved the flag of his new home.

It's all about making decent wages in the States for them. It is the same situation for Puerto Ricians that have moved to New York, they have worse weather but more opportunity.

As for pride, they have bull fights, soccer, boxing and good food to be proud of. As for their claims to the land, many view the U.S. as having taken the land from the aboriginal people.

My view is that I would rather all illegals go home. They have their pride, I have mine. I can try to see their view point in order to understand them better. But when all of the good people of Mexico move to the United States, Ima move down to Mexico. ;)

My wife (Mexican (although she is a proud American, not a Mexican-American)) and I cannot quite understand why many of them come to America seeking a better life yet, some of them insist on clinging to the belief that much of America “belongs” to Mexico.

In the apartments I live in, I fly an American flag every day. As soon as I started flying it, the Mexican ladies just below us put out a small Mexican flag that they never flew until I had put up the American flag. What else can we think other than they did this in retaliation for us flying the American flag?

Consider who these people align themselves with. The America hating Left. They are cut from the same cloth, they are Mexican “progressives”. Liberalism is a mental disorder.

They like coming here... because they can make $$ here and pay virtually no taxes, get nearly free medical support.

Shoot in some cases, litterally get away with murder.

Oh, btw, they are already running to Canada.
Reality is that in some ways Canada is the place they need to go.

Of course life in America is better. But it would be hard to let go of what made you who you are. If I moved to another country, I would find it very hard to stop praising the coutry I'm from, and admire:: even though sometimes I'm less then proud of it recently.
I agree with you though--- if you want to be here, act like it.
(However, not all Mexican's, or other immigrants... are like that.)

It's kind of like if we were to move to England or somewhere like that. We would probably still wear patriotic shirts and stuff too. It's a pride thing. They love their country, but the life quality is better here.
