You make a good point. Political broadcasters thrive on stereotyping people, putting people in boxes, so they can criticize and control the "opposition" and it has spilled into discourse about politics throughout the country.

There are other Democrat candidates for exactly that reason.
Unless you have some particular reason for adding atheist and liberal, its important to understand that Hillary, despite the rancid play she gets, is neither. Shes a church goer her whole life, its one of the reasons she stayed in her marriage and worked it out, her voting record shows shes not a liberal at all, at most she has some interest in keeping healthcare affordable, and I'm not altogether sure that is, at its heart, a liberal idea. Its not the stereotypes about voters, it may be the stereotype about her.
I find myself defending her simply because so much of whats been written is inaccurate, I like Edwards.
I am a New Yorker, and Rudy couldn't have gotten elected again, even for New York he was a nasty man with no class.
He didn't run after 9/11, he hadn't planned to, when he brought his mistress into Gracie Mansion the mayoral residence, and threw his wife and kids out, that was too much for us.
He was also responsible for the penny-pinching that led to so many dying in the Towers that day. He was responsible for not purchasing reliable communications and that failure led to many deaths of firefighters that day. A fact that still infuriates them.

Many stereotypes about voting are wrong, especially about voting along party lines. Just because a candidate is a Republican or a Democrat does not mean that person may be best for the job in whatever he or she is running for.

One of the biggest social problems in America today, I think, is the labeling and pigeon-holing of people. Once someone finds out a tiny piece of information about you, you're type-cast. And God help you if you don't agree with them all down the line! While I do not approve of every decision President Bush has made, he IS our president, and deserves the respect due his office. I felt the same about Bill Clinton. I think too many people are carrying their politics too far.

Not really. Stereotypes are often based on realilty. While not enveloping every possibly person in a given group, a stereotype will often enough not be far off the mark as a whole. Most atheist Libs would never think of voting for anyone other than the Democrat media flavor of the month. You seem more of a person, free thinker, but that doesn't mean that the majority are. In fact, if the majority of people like you thought like you, Hilliary would most likely be changing her stance on certain issues just to appeal to you.

Are stereotypes about voters often wrong?
YES.... Very often.
My opinion with all that are running for office...
There is really none of them worth casting my vote for.
If Mickey Mouse or Mini Mouse was running - I would most definitely vote for one of them...

I suspect that, like you, many people who are in favor of things that the liberal Democrtatic wing is supposed to be in favor of, will draw the line at voting for Hilary.

To each their own.
There's room for atheists in our political system. There's a growing block of atheists out there. I'm agnostic these days.
I'm a lib, but I do know Rudy has great leadership skills.
