It seems now china is the superpower of the world. The U.S. is slowly slipping away. Not even slowly now with the war each day ticking away millions of dollars by the minute that don't even exist. In contrast to China quietly cornering markets and tucking away millions that DO exist.

If a contract was made up and signed but one part of the contract is asking something that is illegal like, "you have to work for me for 6 years" (which I heard is beyond the length of time someone can legally be contracted to stay with an employer), then is the whole thing null in void? Or are the other parts and terms of the contract still inforcable by law? This contract in question was not looked at by a lawer before it was drawn up and signed.

The below link (to the BBC News website) reports an incident involving a Muslim dentist who allegedly told a non-practicing Mulsim woman that she should wear a headscarf before he would treat her. He also admitted to reducing treatment fees to encourage women to wear the headscarf during treatment because it is 'unlawful' for him to look on such women.

What, in the name of King Henry's arsehairs, is going on? Are we living in the 1600s? Surely if a person, regardless of their religion, takes on a professional role such as that of dentist / nurse / doctor, they should just do their job and not feel that their place of work is the place to spout or enforce their own (personal) religious views? Their work should be completely impartial and their only concern should be the welfare of the patient, whatever religion they adhere or do not adhere to.

Should we have laws preventing such behaviour?

WASHINGTON — The hope for immediate Senate action on the DREAM Act, which would grant legal status to hundreds of thousands of young illegal immigrants, faded Tuesday as the measure's chief Senate sponsor acknowledged he was having difficulty surmounting Republican opposition.

Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., has been seeking to attach the DREAM Act to the defense authorization bill pending in the Senate. But in an interview Tuesday, he said the DREAM Act isn't among the items on the table as Republican and Democratic leaders discuss ways to quickly wrap up debate on the defense bill.

"We haven't given up completely, but the options on this bill are limited,'' Durbin said.

"I'm disappointed for thousands of young people whose lives are just in limbo," he added. "They want to move on with their lives and do good things, and unfortunately we haven't been able to pass the laws to make that happen."

Immigrant-rights advocates were dismayed by the setback but vowed to find other means to pass the legislation, which they have sought since 2001.

"There is no question that this issue doesn't stop here," said Cecilia Muñoz, senior vice president of the National Council of La Raza. "The longer we wait, the more talented young people we close the door of opportunity to."

The DREAM Act would allow illegal immigrants who entered the U.S. before the age of 16, and have lived here at least five years, to receive conditional legal status if they have graduated from high school and have a clean record. After six years, they could become permanent legal residents if they serve in the U.S. military for at least two years or complete at least two years of college. As with most green card holders, they could apply for citizenship after five years

well the topic is very shakey and very confusing about what happened on 911. after reports came out abotu what had happened there were experts who contradicted it sayign it was an inside job by the government.

as part of my homework for a school debate my question that i cant answer is why would they do it? for business $$$$$???

how has the US government profited from 911 like saying how much money have tey made in iraq afghanistan and stuff?

i would appreciate if the question was answered rather than ppl flocking to claim it wasnt an inside job. i dont care i just need logic rather than emotion thank you.

i have a debate tomorow and i need to know
1. why did tehy do it...was it for business$$$?
if so how have they profited and how much have they profited?

"A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed." - Bill of Rights
What was the INTENT of the James Madison when he wrote these articles?
Originally our country was not a republic but a confederacy. This confederacy was exceptionally weak due to bickering between the states and the central governing body didn't have enough power to ensure the protection of the states. Therefore the Articles of Confederation were removed and the Constitution was created. The Bill of Rights was added on as to limit the power of the government.
Militias were initially bands of non-conscripted farmers, fighting on volunteer basis. These were the armies that fought and won the war for independence. They provided their own weapons when joining the fight. They were fighting against a real army.
So, a militiaman is a citizen, an arm is a weapon that is capable of defeating an army.
Please discuss!
