I live in Michigan if that matters, and I received a summons today that says I am being sued for an outstanding medical bill. Is there any way to pay this and not have to go to court, or now since it has gone to an attorney is it mandatory to go to court. And also, would I have to pay attorney fees on top of the medical bill amount?

It says also that I have to file an answer with the court within 21 days of receiving the summons. What does that mean? I will check all this in the morning, but Im a little worried about it tonight. Thanks in advance.

To what extent should the American consumer go out of his/her way to buy an "inferior" product?

I mean inferior only in the sense that according to the consumer, the foreign product better meets the consumers' needs. Some people might say that Hollywood movies are inferior to European art movies, but the consumer says that the US makes great movies.

Dollar Tree thrives because Americans want to buy cheap crap instead of well made stuff (or stuff that will do the job just as well as expensive stuff).

Should we buy clothes made in the US instead of India; US cars instead of fuel-efficient Japanese ones?

Economics says that we're better off (for the most part) letting people concentrate on their strengths; products are made cheaper and better.

Does the US have to be the best at all manufacturing?

Are you willing to buy only American, even if it's not the best?

This has anything to do with him acting like OJ instead of an educator?

".....Bollinger has been criticized for taking a neutral public position on controversies in 2004-5 regarding intimidation of students by professors in the Middle East Languages and Cultures (MEALAC) department alleged by the pro-Israel advocacy organization The David Project, and for placing the department in receivership. He has also been at the forefront of criticism for his role advocating the expansion of the University into the Manhattanville neighborhood and the possible use of eminent domain to help it seize property there. The Bollinger administration's expansion plans have been criticized as fundamentally incompatible with the 197/a plan for development crafted by the community, and for failing to address the neighborhood's need to maintain affordable housing stock....."

Why do farmers in China are modest than PHD prof. in the USA = Bollinger!!! A President of a University = An Idiot.

i think the best thing to do is to go back to the question and send notices to everyone in breach of even the SMALLEST infraction....perhaps those that favor censorship will learn their lesson?

It's the concern about the new format that Y! Answers has made. Just today they changed my format, and it really doesn't suit me too well. The answers are squished together and the category list is on the right side. Just click the "thumbs up" button on the forum to vote in favor of getting the old format back.

PS. To those of you who have not experienced the new format, you will eventually get it...it's not something you would like!

Okay, preten there's an illegal immigrant in the U.S. He has a siblin who petitions him under petition I130 under the 4th family preference. Let's say his petition is approved, but he was to wait in line for at least 12 years. During the time he's waiting he decides to stay in the U.S. Would he be illegal or what? If immigration were to deport him could they?

The father of my friend Luigi - Kola Dedvukaj - has been held in a prison in Montenegro for over a year. Kola is a US citizen, and was visiting Montenegro for a wedding. He was dragged from his bed, beaten severely, and put in prison; he has yet to be charged with a crime. The
prison is not climate controlled and his health is deteriorating; he spent his 59th birthday alone in his cell.

His five children, wife, and grandchildren are desperately waiting for him to come home. His family has posted a video on Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xCRZrJAH47U

Please help!!!

When doing PT tests and while training in Basic are you able to do pushups with your fists (as opposed to flat palms)? This would be for a male joining the Army.

...don't you also have to support first cousin marriage?

Research has shown that first cousins only raise the risk of birth defects by 1.7-2.8%. That percentage is far below the risk of people who carry genetic disorders passing it on to their children (upwards to 50% in some cases), and there are no laws governing those individual's marriage or reproduction. The reason we don't allow first cousin marriage is purely based on opinion/religious morals.

So since there's no scientific reason behind the ban, shouldn't you ethically have to be in support of first cousin marriage if you're for gay marriage?

Why aren't you, if you support gay marriage?
