...In Canada, once you work for your employer for 1 year, you are entitled to 2 weeks paid holidays. Basically it 4% of your income over that year, paid out before or after your holiday.
After working for the same employer 5 years, you're entitled to 3 weeks paid holiday time. After working 10 years, you're entitled to 5 weeks paid holidays.
I've just completed 10 years this summer, so I'm taking 3 weeks now, and 2 weeks at Christmas time. I did live in the States many years ago, and nothing like this existed. Has the US initiated any sort of holiday plan similar to this, on a State or Federal level?

Somebody else posted this question, but it seems to be inaccessible for some reason. It's a great question, illustrating actual perspective and consideration for the Iraqi people who are supposed to be the people we are helping over there.

I don't know why I couldn't access the question, so I posted it again, just to see what happens. My apologies and compliments to the original poster.

After all you begged to be in, since you are in you are nothing but troublemaker. De Gaulle should have vetoed you once more.
- Allied and loya to the USA instead of EU,
- You don't want euro,
- You still drive on the left.

Why don't you quit EU? I mean it seriously. Air will be fresher when European countries will be themselves.

Now that Iraq is good and messed up, if we were to leave.. and IF Iran and Saudi Arabia started squabbling over the remains the fear among many leaders is that it would cause a national energy crisis. Do you feel this is true.. Is Iraq finally messed up enough that we are stuck there for better or worse?

Pretend that there is a couple, a man and a woman who are married. Then one of them gets a sex change, and they decide to stay together. Technically isn't it a gay marriage and isn't it still legal and should be recognized?

none of the candidates can win as a Republican but the G boys, Rudy and Newt could go on the Libertarian party ticket.
What do you think?
This would give former Republicans two chances at the White House.
Either Greens win or Libertarians win.

http://www.dailytech.com/Blogger+finds+Y2K+bug+in+NASA+Climate+Data/article8383.htm

While inspecting historical temperature graphs, Steve McIntyre, who operates the site climateaudit.org, noticed a strange discontinuity, or "jump" in many locations, all occurring around the time of January, 2000.
These graphs were created by NASA's Reto Ruedy and James Hansen (who shot to fame when he accused the administration of trying to censor his views on climate change). Hansen refused to provide McKintyre with the algorithm used to generate graph data, so McKintyre reverse-engineered it. The result appeared to be a Y2K bug in the handling of the raw data.
McKintyre notified the pair of the bug; Ruedy replied and acknowledged the problem as an "oversight" that would be fixed in the next data refresh.
NASA has now silently released corrected figures, and the changes are truly astounding. The warmest year on record is now 1934. 1921 takes third. In fact, 5 of the 10 warmest years on record now all occur before World War II.

U.S. Border Patrol Agent Shoots, Kills Suspected Human Smuggler, August 10, 2007

EL PASO, Texas — A Border Patrol agent shot and killed a suspected smuggler at a fence that separates the U.S. and Mexico after the agent felt threatened by the man, authorities said Thursday.

Mexico criticized what it described as an "excessive use of force" against immigrants and demanded an investigation.

Jose Alejandro Ortiz Castillo, a 23-year-old man who had been caught crossing the border 28 times since 1999, died in Mexico shortly after the Wednesday night shooting, Border Patrol spokesman Doug Mosier said.

An unidentified agent spotted Ortiz apparently leading two men and a woman through a hole in the border fence just east of downtown El Paso. Ortiz, who was carrying bolt cutters, picked up a rock as the agent was arresting the woman, Mosier said.

Mosier said the agent "felt threatened by the actions of the
assailant who was holding a rock and bolt cutters."

...What if in the past (like when I was 14 or 15) my parents had forced me to see some "family counselor" or whatever and they pushed anti-depression meds on me because I was "too quiet" in school and at home, and they tried to "diagnose" me with lots of random "illnesses" because my parents were pretty much making up problems I had and using them to blame their failing relationship on, and I had no choice in the matter of taking the medications or going to see the counselor? I know this is a pretty stupid question and makes me sound like some creepy wierdo trying to get into the police force, but I'm just a 17 year old female who has a steady job and good grades... Is all that stupidity on my parents' and counselor's part going to effect my chances of getting hired, or will I be able to explain this to whoever looks over my records (if they do)? I know this is a pretty random/weird question, so thanks in advance for any serious answers :)

What is your real opinion about the troubles that the Republicans are having right now? There is unrest in the ranks because you don't have a candidate that you all can get behind. Truly, and not trying to ruffle any feathers, there is a perception of corruption in general coming from the White House. Your congressional members are grumbling about Bush and Iraq, causing a rift in your party. The candidates have to find a way to distance themselves from Bush and stay within the party line at the same time and that's a heck of a fence to walk. Whether you like President Bush or not he has damaged the reputation of the Republican Party and caused many Independents and moderates to turn toward the Democrats for '08.

What do you think needs to be done to correct these perceptions among so many Americans? Do you think the Republicans can repair the damage in time to win in '08?

As many may know the USS Pueblo has been in the hands of North Korea for quite some time. My question is
Assuming that the ship is in reasonably good condition what would it take to steal back the ship?
In the event that recovery of the vessel is impossible what would it take to destroy the vessel beyond repair?

I watched Dr. Phil today, and there was a guest on his show that was a judge. And he would sentence offenders by holding signs and standing in public stating what they did wrong. A couple of kids spray painted '666' on a Nativity set in someone's yard. And was sentenced to walking a donkey with a sign on the animal saying something to the affect that they were 'jackasses'...(sorry about the lanuage, I didn't make it up.) But, these people didn't have a criminal record, didn't go to jail and/or prison. Some went on to college and never broke another law. Tell me what you think? Is humiliation a good method to prevent crime?

You can read more about it with these two links: Be honest, and think about it? Would you rather your child be humiliated and learn their lesson or go to jail and be a repeat offender? Do you think jail is better?
