Whats with the Vietnam war. I was there in 1967-1968!

It accomplished a precedent for a president lying to Congress and the country to get the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution passed, with the support of all the Republicans, which put combat troops in S. Vietnam!

It got 58, 229 brought home in body bags, and many more Vietnamese killed, both during the war and after the war!

Got our @sses kicked! Where have you been. We never lost a major battle in Vietnam, including Tet! You got your @sses kicked while we were there. You were such cowards you would not hit an American Unit unless you had at least a 3 to 1 advantage, and you still got it handed to you. You suffered many more deaths than we did, so I wouldn't brag!

It should have been a lesson to future presidents, unfortunately, ours probably didn't learn much from Vietnam as he never went, and he was a deserter to boot!

You failed History Class.

To make a blanket statement like that implies you have no real idea what went on in the Vietnam Region during this time.

American was not there to crush the North but merely to prevent the North's attack on the South. The turn out of the war was decieded way before the United States got involved.

You want to blame any country for Vietnam, blame France.

Vietnam was mismanaged from the top..US forces in battle never lost an engagement on a tactical level. The war gave combat experience to most of the officers and long term enlisted that ran the military for years. It established battle doctrines that are still in use. It was like Iraq a loss for the country but a victory for the forces that served there.

It prepared the liberal politicians to do it all over again and turn against the troops. The troops never lost a battle in Vietnam. The only losers were the liberal politicians and their constituents. USMC 60-68

The only ones who learned nothing from it are the ones who are imposing their views on a completely different , unrelated war thirty years later.
