Pretend that there is a couple, a man and a woman who are married. Then one of them gets a sex change, and they decide to stay together. Technically isn't it a gay marriage and isn't it still legal and should be recognized?

Fascinating scenerio. Once all the paperwork is signed and completed, the law is compelled to continue recognizing any marriage until it is legally ended by either death, annulment, or divorce. There is nothing on the books that automatically invalidates a marriage due to any kind of surgery being performed on a spouse.

What's the point you are trying to make here? What is not odd about a trannie???? Technically they are still a man or a woman so it will be recognized! It's kind of like me going and putting on boy clothes and marrying a man and having a boy nick name..

we i guess technically it would be a gay marriage because that person would be officially be a member of the sex they were changed to. so if gay marriage isnt recognized it that state it would be illegal. if i made the decision gay mairrage would be leagal.

im not lawyer or anything so im not sure

I saw that on Dateline one time (or was it Oprah? hmm). The husband decided to become a woman and they apparently are both very happy with the situation. They are still married, but I think the husband is still legally going by his male name.

No, a transgender person is still whatever sex they started out as, no matter what operations are performed.

This will change when men can commonly carry children. So far only one transgender male to female has accomplished this medical miracle.

Anyway, that is my opinion. I would be curious what a legalese mind would make of this question.

Wouldn't that be tranny marriage? Yeah, they're still legally married. But usually not for long.
