Somebody else posted this question, but it seems to be inaccessible for some reason. It's a great question, illustrating actual perspective and consideration for the Iraqi people who are supposed to be the people we are helping over there.

I don't know why I couldn't access the question, so I posted it again, just to see what happens. My apologies and compliments to the original poster.

It affects everone. There is a lot of PTSD in the US civilian population between crime, gangs, car accidents, fires, or anything that causes a tramatic event.

Yes there are Iraqis as well. Living under Saddam would be pretty tramatic when one of his son's could just kidnap, rape and murder your wife or daughter. When Saddam puts military units next to your kids schools. When he invades another country and leads to your home being invaded the first time in 91.

Part of the effort of the US forces is to build hospitals and other infrastructure. If we were not being shot at all the time by terrorists, we could finish it.

Im sure there are terrorists with PTSD as well.

Most Iraqis would not be affected. PTSD is the result of direct exposure to a traumatic event. And despite the misleading presentations given by the news media - only a tiny fraction of the Iraqi population are directly exposed to these events.

US GI's can be classified as a personel who just takes their order from the above thus in the field of duties ,stress and other related psychological phenomenons overwhelmed the situations in the aftermath. Basic approach requires them to reverse the process of adapt, overcome, improvise and reorganise in order to acclaimatize their homeland.

By American standards, or by just about anybody's standards, the Iraqis were already pretty traumatized before we got there. We didn't go there to "traumatize" them; that's the fault of those intent on destroying their infrastructure, not the fault of those intent on BUILDING it.

EDIT: I'm also sick and tired of nonsensical claims like those made by the poster just before me. 700,000 people? Please. Even Saddam didn't kill that many of his own people, and certainly not that many by us. Where are your facts to back up that claim, hmm? What source can you cite for that number, other that perhaps Rosie O'Donnell (and we all know how reliable a source SHE is).

The last thing I would concern myself with is the Iraqi people. My only thoughts about our war in Iraq are how will affect the US, my modern life, and the prospects for the future of western culture, anything else would be ridicules

You've got to leave Iraq in order to suffer from PTS. How many Iraqis leave Iraq?
