Ok so my mother in law has been living with dementia. She was badly beaten up, and has no history of self harm or violence. She is delusional. The police took statements from the neighbors, (who have a nice long history of violence against women, animal cruelty, etc, etc.) They said they found her rolling around in the front yard crying. They took her to the hospital and no rape kit was done, and no investigation as to who did this to her. They put her in the psych ward. We have been waiting for social services to do something, as she thinks nothing is wrong with her, and in her delusions she thinks we are conspiring to kill her, and would never let us around her house and would call the police on us. I am glad she is finally under 24 hour care, but my instincts tell me that something really did happen to her, but she just keeps saying she woke up and her face was beaten and she was cut up. What can I do?

Can a subcontractor place a mechanics lien on a property, if he didn't send a 20-day preliminary notice first?
The general contractor has been paid - but issued "bounced" checks to the subcontractor.
How does it work in California?

An IRAQ LIFE

You stay up for 16 hours

He stays up for days on end.

You take a warm shower to help you wake up.

He goes days or weeks without running water.

You complain of a "headache", and call in sick.

He gets shot at as others are hit, and keeps moving forward.

You put on your anti war/don't support the troops shirt, and go meet up with your friends.

He still fights for your right to wear that shirt.

You make sure you're cell phone is in your pocket.

He clutches the cross hanging on his chain next to his dog tags.

You talk trash about your "buddies" that aren't with you.

He knows he may not see some of his buddies again.

You walk down the beach, staring at all the pretty girls.

He patrols the streets, searching for insurgents and terrorists.

You complain about how hot it is.

He wears his heavy gear, not daring to take off his helmet to wipe his brow.

For the Americans; you are so easily brainwashed by your government it is quite funny from the outside. for outsiders to the US, ask yourself how and why is their economy booming? Becuase of war and oil, and low-and-behold war and oil were the 2 things to come out of September 11. They even picked the exact same date that is coincidentally the same as the emergency services number in the US - 911. Policy documents from 15 years ago states that they wish to control and monitor the world for their own interests and nobody even cares. I'd rather have nothing than a world ran by fakey fine yanks who think they live in a democracy and the best country on earth. It's one of the worst by a mile. More drugs, more killings, more corruption than any other nation, but still you think it's the best. Start asking yourself some questions about your foreign policy and your country as a whole...you are very easily fooled.

Are you expected to pull over immediately in the middle of the road...keep going until there's a parking lot...or does it just depend on the situation?

Approved I-824 But Refusal Of Processing By The Us Embassy In My Country

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello pple,

Am new to this forum but find it quite helpful. Could any person advise me on what to do pls?

My hubby and I got married May 2005, he became an LPR August 2005 through the Visa Lottery, but I couldnt go with him then for reasons beyond our control.

In May 2006, he filed I-824 for me and that was approved August 2006, however on getting to the US embassy in my home country they refused to process it saying that his visa lottery year had ended. This clause is however not added as part of the conditions for "following-to-join" on the USCIS website.

We have since filed for I-130, but cant help thinking there might be a way round this refusal.

I received an illegal lane change ticket. I went to the arraignment (early) and pleaded "not-guilty", then my court date was set.

I was caught up in traffic on the way there, which cause me to be less than 5 minutes late. The docket was small that day and my case apparently was the first to be called. I asked was there anything I could do, he replied by stating I could file a motion for continuance, but the city viewed it as being over.

A month later at my new court date, I show up very very early this time. When my name is call the judge is pissed. She goes off on me for being late and waisting everyones time. I appologized profusely, addmitting it was a mistake to be 2 minutes late for court, explained that the docket was small that day, but she still was absolute in here decision. She stated that she would not summon the officer and accusing witness back, because I was late.

It just doesn't feel right that being 2 minutes late counts as guilt. Am I wrong?

Forgive me please if this is insulting, but the whole "they'll follow us home" thing sounds like one of the dumbest things I've ever heard. Why would they have to wait for things to settle in Iraq to attack us? I'm sure they could spare a few guys. "They'll follow us home" is a ridiculous attempt to scare us all into backing a baseless war. What are they going to do hitch a ride over here on a transport plane with Delta force?

For anyone who thinks our quiting will make them bold remember that our being there has already given many who would not have quite the excuse to fight us.

The U.S. spends half a Trillion dollars on the military every year and they can't win a simple war in Iraq or can't even find Bin Laden.

Their enemies are fighting and winning with equipment that is 40 years old while the U.S. soldiers have the latest weapons, technology and gear and they still can't win.

The U.S. military is a complete waste of half a Trillion dollars a year.
