WOW! It would seem they're doing pretty good where they're at.

They will go overseas to Indonesia and India for health care. There is a growing medical industry in these areas for 'western' patients to go and have elective medical procedures done on the cheap. As a turn key package deal you get treated more or less like royalty and the facilities are very modern and well maintained, with skilled medical personel.

If the US is dumb enough to nationalize 1/6th of the economy (the health care industry), then it's likely that I will be among those flying out if I need major elective procedures done.

Nationalizing healthcare in the US is quite absurd and just another reason among many why we are:

The Stupid Nation.

PS, It's not just Canadians who go to the US for elective procedures, there are plenty of Europeans who also come to the US for this.

Apparently most people do not know the difference between medicine and healthcare. Most Canadians wait an unreasonable length of time to get an appointment to see a doctor for even simple ailments. The number of qualified and talented physicians is dwindling due to the socialistic healthcare system. The same will happen here is the Dems are allowed to socialize our healthcare. We have THE BEST healthcare in the world, regardless of what Mickey Moore says - it's kept his cholesterol laden self alive, hasn't it?

Great Question. So many come here for their treatments and surgeries as the list is too long. I have an Uncle that lives there and he goes to Detroit to be treated. He says the health system is over run and too long a wait.
If Canadian system is so good why do over 100,000 Canadians come down south to be treated and buy their medicine in Mexico. We called them Winter Texans or Snow Birds.

Universal Health care is like anything else. If you excute it properly then it will work. If politicians tie use it as an excuse to ripp us off then it won't go well.

Is it so wrong to take tax dollars and help sick people and old people get well? How many of the the old timers don't get back what they put into social securtiy? How many get ripped on med prices? How many would get the same drugs from Canada for cheap that they get ripped off for here in America?

Being a Canadian that has to use American hospitals I would not want to have any treatment in the US....our medical system is the best in the world...countries like the US and Australia have use our system to build theirs on...and even though ours has let down a good number of people it still is better than the US's system....as a Canadian I can choose the doctor I want to see...not out of group of doctors but any doctor....very differnt to HMO's.

Besides the US is only putting it into place to attempt to have a Unified North America like the European Union and a good number of Canadians will not stand for that....

Why, most of us do just fine, getting our health care in Canada. All we have to do is continue to fight neoconservative idiots in our own country who think that the U.S. has something to teach us about running a health care system. In Canada, as a rule, when someone talks about making the Canadian system "more American," it's not a compliment.

Most of them do just fine in Canada. And think of all those Americans who would no longer have to cross our northern border to get affordable medications.
