WASHINGTON, July 13 — Two leading Republican senators said today that President Bush should seek a new war authorization and present a plan to Congress by Oct. 16 outlining contingency plans in Iraq. Those plans, which would include reducing American forces, should begin by the end of the year.

About time the republicans caught up with what the rest of the world has known for some time eh? Slower traffic keep "right".

Do you realize that in order for your right to free speech to be "infringed," it has to be the GOVERNMENT preventing you from speaking? You'd have to be arrested, or otherwise punished, BY THE GOVERNMENT, in order for your First Amendment rights to be infringed.

Do you understand this, or are you one of those people who thinks that someone objecting to a statement you make is an infringement of your freedom of speech?

The basic Republican theology is less taxes, more military and no wealth fare. The thing I can't get is why many so people who come from poor backrounds vote republican. It's like they don't even think about how they're voting. Less taxes means less public services and worse public education. The only people who would benifit from that are the people who have enough money to send their children to private schools. And if you have less taxes, then how can you have more military if the military funds are all tax based. Anyone with half a brain wouldn't vote Republican unless they're a rich oil tycoon trying to defend every single dollar they make. And then the Republicans you idiots elect give out tax cuts to the rich. How is that helping the Average American? What ever happened to the American Dream? The idea that someone from the bottom of the social ladder can rise to the top.

Obviously, if Rosie ran for President, she'll win by a landslide. We all know this. We all agree. It's common knowledge. However, the exact reason why she was denied election after election to run for President escapes me. They say it is because she is lesbian, but the real reason is because they KNOW she'll win. How is that fair? Are we a country that makes up excuses because we are afraid? We criticize other nations of being corrupted and yet we fail to realize that our government is too?

I have been doing a lot of searching to find out what I want to do with the rest of my life, I'm 20 so I need to figure it out sometime soon! I'm really interested in air traffic control even though I know it can be stressful especially in a busy air space... So I was wondering what a day in the life of an air traffic controller was like, as well as the best way to become one. I have some years of college under my belt and I want to finish my degree but i'm willing to take a break or finish it in the air force!

Try to answer without partisan sarcasm. I'm curious what people really believe "victory" would look like. What is it that we're trying to do, and how will we know when it is done?

I found my eyes opened by watching Bill Moyer's journal tonight on WNET (PBS). I had no idea the extent of the misdeamanors or the extent to which impeachment is seen by the founding fathers as the REMEDY to a constitutional crisis; that the issue is one of flouting the checks and balances of the Constitution. If you saw the program, what did you think? If not, it repeats this Sunday (July 15) WNET at 7PM EST. Write to say what you think. I am all energized by this!!!

okay, so most of you people say that you hate the illegal immigrants for the fact that they broke the laws.. which, even I, think is an understandable argument..

but I believe that most americans only look skin deep when it comes to this issue..
if it was a problem with canada: twenty-million english speaking white people conveniently moving themselves and their families into our country, would you care? or would you even notice?
I think that a lot of you people really need to look past the language barrier and the color of skin and you will see that the latino immigrants are just looking for a better life.. one that they can't afford to get legally because of the horrible wages of their home countries...
I'm all for the amnesty movement.. they want what everyone else wants... a better life...

The House voted last night to withdraw our troops from Iraq by April of next year, leaving behind "a small force to train Iraqis, protect US assets, and fight terrorists" - and certainly to be slaughtered wholesale Mogadishu style. If the dems think the war is wrong and unwinnable, why leave any troops behind at all? Is it in the hopes that images of these troops being dragged through the streets of Bagdhad will turn Americans against the war once and for all? Or is it that they just don't have the political backbone to call for a full retreat?

Cons hate libs, libs hate cons, why not become two seperate countries? The blue states can be one and make as liberal a laws as they please, while the red states be as conservative as they please. As long as it's fairly peaceful, maybe it would be for the best.

Prior to 2004, a fence could only be built if it were 30 feet in from the property line in our area. Several fences were built on the property line during this time without permission. In 2004, the code was changed to allow a fence to be placed 12 feet in from the property line. Considering the fact that the fences were against code when they were built and they are still against the current code, are the fences considered "grandfathered" simply because the code was changed?

Putting the Social Security trust fund back together is definitly the right move. It is currently in the general fund and they are blowing it, I have heard that it would have trillions in the account if it had been left in a trust and not blown thru these years.
