Problem seems to be that when they couldn't recruit enough "Police" they started dressing up Sadrs and Sistanis thugs and calling them Police. Today they turned on us. They have no loyalty to the "Government"

Iraqi police usually has low morale.......

They join police force mostly because economic reasons. They also subjected to daily bombing, IED and ambush.

Furthermore, there are some indications that insurgents elements are among them.

Against dedicated insurgents, they wont have many chances

Most Americans don't know this but 4 times as many Iraqi Police have died in the war as American troops. They do fight. But this is a tough war and there are lots of infitrators. But there is lots of evidence that the troop surge has helped turn the tide on the insurgents. Hopefully by winter we can turn the control of the war over to the government and begin the pullout.

Neither does the Mexican police which quit in mass because of death threats and in other countries FARC and the Tigers (rebals/terrorists) have their own airforce because of low police standards. Even the LAPD fled on riot rumors which led to the last riots in Los Angeles.
