You do not have a problem, except you were dishonest.

You have admitted the theft. Hopefully you won't do it again.

The Navy will accept you with no problem, providing you have not been arrested, indicted or charged with a crime. People with felonies have been accepted with a waiver from higher command.

In the event of it being a misdemeanor, most likely it would not matter anyway, but they may ask you about it.

Most kids get into some kind of trouble, it is not unusual at all.

See your recruiter and ask them about it, be honest, I think you will be very surprised that they not only want you but respect you for your candor.

I am a Navy vet, I wish you good luck and don't, don't dont, join the Army!!

First off, you're 16, so it is a juvenile charge, which means it comes off your record as soon as you turn 17. Second, as long as you tell them when you are at the MEPS center, I doubt any service would hold it against you. Thirdly, of any of the services, the Navy is known for giving second chances, so even if they say you need a waiver, you will probably get one.

As a recruiter in Ohio if you weren't arrested and you have no record your good to go. Even if they did arrest you, stealing a belt is not a felony. It will have no bearing on you joining the navy. Go for it

Your recruiter may have to sdubmit your case to the Navy Recruiting Command to obtain a "moral waiver" in order for you to enlist. Don't withhold that information. If they find out about it after you enlist they will toss you over the side with a discharge.

It will not effect you at all. Just make sure you stay out of trouble. I was arrested for selling crack and I was still able to join the military

Can't you just give them back the $20? If it does go on your record you will need a waiver. it's not that hard to get.
