I was watching the National Geographic channel (as usual) and a show called Explorer came on, talking about how North Korea is such a isolated country that has much poverty and starvation. It also said how the leader Kim Jong Il pretty much brainwashed the koreans, forcing them to worship him and if they didn't there would be dier consequences. And now there making nuclear bombs (which were mainly created to attack the U.S.).
But anyways lets say the N.Koreans do revolt against Kim, would that lead the n.korean army to build more concentration camps (for the people that refuse to worship Kim)?

So within the last year or so, I've been pulled over a couple times, each in a diferent city, and given tickets for speeding and expired registration. I've been meaning to take care of it, but things keep coming up (my father died, I was robbed, lost scholarships), and I just haven't been able to start on it. I started getting letters that I have warrants out for my arrest, and that I need to pay. What would be the fastest and most inexpensive way to deal with this? I need to sleep peacefully, and I don't know if I should get a lawyer, or just pay the fines for the warrants (which I can't even afford right now), or what...

I live in a town in the sacramento county and all we get is these little fireworks that are just boring. My cousin however who lives in orange county has a place right in his area where illegal fireworks ARE legal. Why is it that for one these are illegal and two why they are only illegal in certain places?

Sure terrorism has much more visible effects. Some terrorists fly some planes into buildings and 2,750 people are killed - that's a very tangible result. Global warming makes a heat wave worse and leads to 1,000 extra deaths - that's not so tangible because it's hard to quantify how much worse the heat wave was due to global warming.

However, the World Health Organization has estimated that global warming is responsible for 150,000 deaths each year

http://www.usatoday.com/weather/news/2003-12-11-climate-deaths_x.htm

While terrorism, although it has increased since the Iraq War, is only responsible for 15,000 worldwide deaths each year:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/04/28/AR2006042802181_pf.html

That's a factor of 10 difference! It doesn't even take into account that global warming is accelerating while terrorism doesn't vary that much from year to year.

How can anyone possibly argue that terrorism is a bigger threat than global warming?

I posted a question about this yesterday, but didn't quite get the answers I was looking for. In a nutshell, financial problems in my over 6 year relationship caused so much tension that my hubby was arrested for spousal abuse (even though I was what I consider a participant, not an innocent victim as I am being stereotyped as), and now he faces a new conviction because of 2 of our previous neighbors making false statements saying they witnessed a fight between us that never even happened. And no matter what proof I bring to the DA, she won't drop the charges. The first conviction was bad enough, but this new one, because of the prior, could possibly send him away for 1 to 5 years! It is so wrong for the DA's and judges and police to assume they know if someone is a abuser or mindless victim without hearing all the facts. Instead of innocent until proven guilty, DV arrestees are guilty PERIOD! And rarely get off even with clear evidence of innocense. Any input, web links, resources?

Shouldn't this be an issue that is decided state by state? If Texas wants to make it illegal for employers to hire undocumented workers - let them. If California wants to educate everyone for free regardless of status - let them. If Florida wants to deport first time offenders - let them. Again, would you agree or disagree that most of what is covered in the immigration bill outside of borders and citizenship should be left to the individual states. Thanks in andvance.

... and, if so, who or what offices are liable for this failure and how do the states proceed against the United Staes to obtain a conviction?

Constitution of the United States of America, Article. IV., Section. 4.

The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened), against domestic Violence.
