No. I think voters should be educationally qualified.

I don't think an education gives any indication that someone won't behave like an idiot. Just look at the number of bloody stupid things some MP's have done, in some cases down right dishonest as well as stupid.
In my opinion in a democracy anyone should be able to stand for election. Intelligence isn't the character trait that has proved to be in short supply, integrity and honesty are apparently much rarer.

There is no minimum educational attainment that is required for candidates as long as they are able to read and write but have good leadership abilities and a lot of political influence and connections. If you want to change the Constitution, this must be one of the aspects that should be injected in the provisions, to have educated candidates.

Your point is well taken and should be considered. However, in all good fairness, if we require a candidate to prove he is not an "idiot" then we must insure that the voters have to prove that they are not "idiots." Seems to me that the voters prove their intelligence every time they elect a local official without that official having to prove anything other than his appeal to the voters. Be sure and stand tall. Don't forget to pass that exam at your local kinder garden.

You assume that qualifications = intelligence...Not the case!
I would prefer that there be something like a 'Mensa' test...and that dogmatic idiots who attempt to get themselves elected in order to pursue their filthy prejudices, should be summarily executed. They know what they are seeking to do and should suffer the appropriate punishment.
I also think...to present a 'balanced' view...that the British public should accept as a general rule that they get the politicians they deserve! If we are stupid enough to elect them...do we really have the right to complain?????

No, life experience can count more than letters after your name, in my experience highly educated people lack common sense, and a lot of them have no social skills whatsoever, Boris Johnson is a case in point, the only thing he has going for him is his endearing bumbling ways, ordinary people should be represented by ordinary people, you would be amazed how intelligent they can be, they may not be able to write a thesis, or converse in Latin, but they know how to get things done.

No.
In a democracy, the people get the representatives they deserve.
If they want to vote for a f**kwit, that is their democratic right.
As exercised by the people of the USA at the last two Presidential elections.

No because the government is supposed to be the government of the people not the government of the smart people and if you had an education requirement that is just what you are doing.
