I am a husband and a father of two, with another baby on the way! One of my largest concerns with children and a pregnant wife is health care. I would like to here from some of you as who you think I should vote for if this were the only deciding factor, and why you think the way you do.

White House opposes 3.5 percent pay raise

By Rick Maze - Staff writer

Troops don’t need bigger pay raises, White House budget officials said Wednesday in a statement of administration policy laying out objections to the House version of the 2008 defense authorization bill.

The Bush administration had asked for a 3 percent military raise for Jan. 1, 2008, enough to match last year’s average pay increase in the private sector. The House Armed Services Committee recommends a 3.5 percent pay increase for 2008, and increases in 2009 through 2012 that also are 0.5 percentage point greater than private-sector pay raises.

The slightly bigger military raises are intended to reduce the gap between military and civilian pay that stands at about 3.9 percent today. Under the bill, HR 1585, the pay gap would be reduced to 1.4 percent after the Jan. 1, 2012, pay increase.

Bush budget officials said the administration “strongly opposes” both the 3.5 percent raise for 2008 and the follow-on increases, calling extra pay increases “unnecessary.”

So a soldier serving in Iraq can't get a 3.5% raise on his $ 13,000 + salary

BUT

The Bush administration just gave VA senior executives bonuses

...BONUSES

that average $ 17,000 per administrator

for the Veteran's Administrators that are NOT taking proper care of our wounded soldiers

Please conservatives...please...explain this

The average fighter plane will probably cost upwards of $40Millions each. When the production line starts making the fighters a new aircraft will probably roll off every few days. How is the costing worked out? How is the money spent on labor, materials, R&D? Are the profits made by the companies building the planes reasonable. I am a patriot.

My husband is in Iraq, he came home for ER leave in December left in Jan. he is not due home now until Jan. of 2008. OK in my eyes a year is a long time, I am scared of what love can do in one year, I have found myself to be able to do more things on my own, I don't have the auto date when I need one anymore, I don't have to ok it with anyone when I go somewhere, and honestly this scares the hell out of me.. So in your honest nice answer what can happen with love in the years time you are apart from each other.. No I dont cheat, no I dont party, and all those things that might come out.. I am just curious on what others think...

I was using a friend's van in the condo complex where I rent. I used it for 6 days. That evening, I went to return it and it was gone. The mgr said the HOA had it towed away because they didn't know who it belonged to. The only signs posted are "Private Property" signs. There are no signs posted that there is a limited number of days to park. My friend is out of the country for one month. The towing company said to get back the van he would have to show up with I.D. and his van registration. (when it rains it pours) Can I sue the HOA or the towing company to get back the money I have to pay to eventually get back the van?

I ask this because all the time I see conservatives saying "Liberals are lazy" or "All people should work really hard."

I don't think any individual really is sooo lazy that they are satisfyed doing nothing and collecting meagre welfare, so I ask this to people of all political affiliations: "What to you is working hard?

Is 40 hours a week for 50 weeks a year constitute as working hard, or should it be more (like in China) or less (like in France)?

Also, does the physical exertion of the work have anything to do with "working hard". Does a construction worker work harder than an office type?

How much do you think people should be working for the overall benifit of society?

Thanks in advance for any responses.

Parents agreed to have names taken off deed to house and allowed third party to take all the profit. Unless Medicaid makes an exception, they may have to pay for months of their Nursing Home care when needed. Is the party guilty of exploitation responsible to pay back the ill-gotten gain or is their jail time involved. I just don't know.

These people are a serious cancer of the media. They are full of hate, always attacking the defenseless, never offers solutions, want dissenting Americans to be thrown into concentration camps, are openly rascist and homophobic and never offer any solution.

They are only there to distract the stupid and are full of disinformation. Who is worse and why?

A North Korean train departed for South Korea across the heavily armed border for the first time in more than half a century.

At the same time, a South Korean train left for the North. The two five-car trains, each carrying 100 South Koreans and 50 North Koreas, crossed the Military Demarcation Line (MDL) dividing the two countries.

What do you think about North Korean train and peace on the korea?

And is this a north korea train game?

I was a child during the 1980's and did not understand politics at all. However, based on what my parents have told me, he was a mediocre President at best, and all of my highly intellectual friends who've studied politics have said that he was not a good President whatsoever. And there was no mention about any of his accomplishments after his tenure as President. So, I'm here to get the other side of the story. What exactly did he achieve when he was President?

*Supposedly, he "ended" the Cold War. But, many historians have claimed that he only came in during the last quarter of the game and finished it and took credit for the efforts of the many other people who were involved in the endeavor.
