As far as I am concerned Bush only cares about how to make a buck. He is a business man and a selfish one at that. Oh how he duped the American people into thinking he would be working for them.

You are not alone. Do not let poor decisions in the past keep you from a better future! While our country is not perfect you live in a place where it is possible to improve your situation through education, had work. pluck and luck. And you will do that by staying in college and focussing on your education. A little bit of help is on the way - the tax stimulus rebate checks will be sent out in May. Every little bit helps! Do not look for gas prices to go down. Worldwide demand will keep prices high until new alternatives are developed. In the meantime you are absolutely doing the right thing by getting a college education. Its easy to blame our leaders, but a better bet is to forget the blame-game and use your intelligence and drive to improve your situation. You CAN do it! Good luck!

What does President Bush have to do with it? Now, Congress, on the other hand, the IRS, etc., have a lot to do with it. Oil companies get tax breaks by taking oil from Wyoming, Texas, Oklahoma and shipping it to Japan or Korea. Congress grants them a bigger profit to sell overseas. Why not start with them?
And, what do you call poor people? Me, I call any one who pays income taxes "rich". Not to mention, every where I've ever been, people who claim they are poor, need food stamps or whatever, always have money for cigarettes, booze, drugs, etc. They can use the money they spend for those things to pay for the gasoline.
Sorry, Bush has little to do with it; petition your Congressman. Encourage everyone you know to quit driving, wasting gas, running their motorcycles through the desert, up the hill, using their go-karts, golf-carts, ATV's, snowmobiles, boats, etc.
But, I agree, there is not enough to be done to help "poor" people. They were not even mentioned during the last 2 elections; the big concern was the middle class. If there is no lower class, who do they think will do the work, pay disproportionately higher taxes, etc.? Oops! That would be the middle class.

The Bush family is an oil family and the higher the price of oil the more they make. Conservatives love people like Bush because they care less about the little people or the young men and women starting out in life. They are greedy and evil.

Well, I get what your saying but I don't think the rich people don't like having to fork out extra $$$ at the tank either. High gas prices affect EVERYONE... even if you don't have a car, you are paying extra for your milk at the grocery store because that truck that brought it had to buy gas.

Oh Please, to all those in this thread that post the same old tired diatribe about the BUSH oil empire, why don't you go through the list of Democrats that are major stock holders in BIG OIL. Yeah, goggle that one.
The oil industry has purposely limited US production to drive up prices for the simple reason, THEY CAN! There's nothing deeper than greed and it's not the president. It's our US Stock market that demands profit. Oil posted record gains in this last year and US Oil sales did what? They went up again. Yes US consumption in the wake of these staggering fuel costs have gone up not down.
If you want the companies that are truly in control of these markets to get the picture start talking about Price regulation and price controls and watch the price plummet.
Yes the President is getting a large cut of the profits just like every other person on the planet that owns stock in OIL is getting. SO WHAT! I wish I had some Oil stock so I could at least get a taste of the pie.
You want to effect change, Get any one of your Congress or Senate Reps to initiate a bill that would limit the at pump price of Gas and see what happens to fuel prices. And don't worry about the oil companies they will step up production to stay in the black if that actually happens. They purposefully limited production in the 70's to start the fuel crises and they continue to limit production for that very reason. They are manipulating the Supply because they have a never decreasing demand at their disposal.

Gasoline prices are going sky high the world over. There is nothing non-producing countries can do about it - except cut back on the government taxation.
As oil supplies dwindle and Asia and China become more industrialised, so the problem will escalate. The time will come when there will be fuel rationing. Then hardly any fuel at all. Any supplies coming through will be needed for priority services.
Better get used to the idea......

he HAS TOTAL control over the prices lets look for example at the RECENT veto he made for the drug companies in which he made it ILLEGAL for YOU THE CONSUMER to go out and get MEDS from COUNTRIES LIKE MEXICO AND CANADA. if he doesn't veto that bill YOU END UP PAYING LESS FOR DRUGS HERE IN AMERICA. but BECAUSE HE DID VETO IT you will STILL PAY THE SAME PRICES EVEN MORE NOW.
so right there alone he influnenced the SO CALLED FREE MARKET AND ITS PRICES.
if he cared about the people he would SET UP A LAW TO LIMIT OR MAKE OIL COMPANIES ALWAYS WORK AT FULL POWER. so on. ..oh wait he won't! its not about new drilling-its about letting energy companies and drug companies influence the big investors LIKE BUSH.
so those who say he doesn't affect the prices need to go read a book or use a little bit more of their brain.

The poor aren't bribing Bush - The Republicans & Democrats in Congress... with fat campaign contributions / bribes
so
The rich (big oil) get richer
and the poor take from their grocery money to fund the life of leisure of the financial elites
Amazing how conservatives don't seem to ever notice corporate crime...corporate welfare
