I ask this because all the time I see conservatives saying "Liberals are lazy" or "All people should work really hard."

I don't think any individual really is sooo lazy that they are satisfyed doing nothing and collecting meagre welfare, so I ask this to people of all political affiliations: "What to you is working hard?

Is 40 hours a week for 50 weeks a year constitute as working hard, or should it be more (like in China) or less (like in France)?

Also, does the physical exertion of the work have anything to do with "working hard". Does a construction worker work harder than an office type?

How much do you think people should be working for the overall benifit of society?

Thanks in advance for any responses.

"Americans work harder than Asians"

I'll keep that in mind next time I buy my Nike shorts that were probably made by a child labourer working 12 hour days without lunch breaks....

But sadly enough I'll probably still buy them....

Liberals are working hard like everybody else. Neocons have fostered nasty propaganda about all kinds of groups. Now they have this phony category called "liberals" so their brainwashed followers won't think for themselves.

The only difference between Conservatives and Liberals is that liberals think, conservatives follow.

Watch out for phony questions on the board. They're just Conservatives trying to make weak people stupid.

The problem is allot of people work very hard (physical labor) and are poorly paid. Other people say they work hard, but spend allot of time on their *** and are paid very well to sit there. If you pay someone a good wage they wouldn't be on welfare or collecting food stamps. The people sitting don't want to pay them much money for there hard work. So they go on welfare because of the injustice of wages. Personally I think you should be paid by sweat factor. If a CEO of a company gets paid millions, then why are the people under him paid so unfairly. Give the CEO $75,000 and pay the workers more and you will have more happy workers. I mean think about it if nobody made more than $75,000 we could all have a decent job, insurance, a nice home and enough money to send the kids to college. I have made less than $30,000 my whole life. I own my home and though I can't do everything I want its pretty close.

I would think at least the minimum 40 hour's a week is required to be considered (not lazy) this does not apply to Partnered stay at home Mother's since their job is 24 hour's a day and you have to admire that! My husband and I both work 12-14 hour's a day 6-7 days a week. His work is more physical while mine is more tedious...just depends on your own personal opinion of what lazy is.

I believe the two works mean the same thing. But the first is whereby a person attempts to acquire salvation, while the second applies when a person is already saved by belief in God. The question is whether a person who has salvation already should sit back and not attempt to work on their weaknesses, like impatience, anger, thuggery, e,t.c just because they are saved by faith. I believe the Peter who emphasized the importance of works to ones faith meant this, in the context of his passages.

An international study in 2005 showed that Americans work harder than Asians, with the exception of the people in Singapore.

Americans move far faster at work than Asian workers do. Go visit Asia. Americans also get less vacation time than Asian workers.

Also, the vacation time given to American workers in many cases never gets used. A large percentage of Americans are too busy at work to take vacations.

some of the hardest working Americans are those that don't have the capacity, the luck, the education, etc. to make the big dollars. Many have to work two jobs and still live at poverty levels. There are many others who are fortunate by virtue of birth, connections, education, charisma, etc. to be able to get jobs that pay well and do very little work as they get to "delegate" their work.

The only reason Conservatives tell Liberals that is because it is Liberals who are always in our pockets.

We just naturally assume that if you worked as hard as we did, you wouldn't want the government to waste your money, either.

Might as well just flush it or burn it.

Conservatives equate fairness and helping poor to 'being lazy.' They also equate corruptions and greed to good business & economic sense.
