No, the ticket is for violating a state statute-speeding. A trooper not wearing his/her hat, is a violation of their department policy-if it says they must wear the hat.

Is this a real question or just looking for a laugh. It is certainly not true.

However, I do know that some departments tell their officers exactly how to dress including the wearing of a stetson and a Trooper seen outside anywhere without his hat on may get a chewing from his supervisor, but no it would not affect the citation. It is that way here the Troopers are supposed to where their stetsons (in the summertime) anytime they are outside. It is not really strictly enforced but that is the case. I suppose if this was a real question this could be how the rumor got started, someone overheard a Trooper saying he must wear his hat on traffic stops.

As for the person who posted you can not get a citation if you pull over before the lights come on that is totally wrong. I turn on people all the time who know that I am coming for them and choose to pull off into a parking lot or rest area and I do not activate my lights. There is no need, I mean why draw attention to them and yourself (they appreciate this). Obviously you couldn't be charged with failing to stop without the lights activated but pretty much anything else it does not matter.

Sorry, just another urban myth!

You'd have to be half a 'tard to believe that enough to ask if it's true.
