I think that due to the enhancements in the technology of weapons that confrontation between two major powers will probably result in a sort of cold war. Both sides knowing full well that either country could kill millions in seconds.

any respect for the dearly departed? Or just plain common decency? I was not a falwell fan, some of the stuff he said was left field, other things made some sense to me, but it is embarassing to see the shameful glee in many of the lib posts here...

I know many in my circle that likewise would vote for Rudy...most of my friends are social liberals and fiscal conservatives...and Rudy fits that bill...if he can get the Republican nomination, I think he is a shoe in for president.

However, if Newt or Romney, or any other extremely conservative person runs, my circle will have to continue to vote for whoever the Democratic nominee is....and I think then the Republican party will not be able to hold onto the Presidency

-Your thoughts?
-Do you think someone with forward thinking social views, as Rudy has can be nominated by the Republican party...considering the base is fundamentalist Christians? -Would the fundamentalists be willing to support Rudy over conservative like Newt, if it meant they could hold onto the Presidency?
-Or will the fundamentalists insist on a social conservative...even if it means they will lose the election?

If it can be demonstrated that a woman has decieved a man to conceive, e.g lied about taking the pill, do you think she should still be able to sue for child support, or do you think the welfare of the child justifies rewarding an act of sexual piracy?

Also, can you think of any ethical way of resolving this issue?

Please justify your choice, and don't bother answering if all you have to say is "keep it in your pants" - that's just avoiding the question.

Hypothetically speaking, there is a nation, very comparable to the Nazis. They believe in a 'pure race', which only consists of heterosexual caucasians. Their laws prohibit the existence of anything else (i.e. they get executed immediately). Their laws prohibit a person believing in something other than science. Their laws prohibit any person helping these people and/or fighting against these laws.

OK so, I guess you know no religion is allowed and involved with these laws, so it may not be relgion related.

Now Dina is part of a group who hides the 'unpure' and fights against the laws. She was caught and arrested, but was found not guilty.

What would that law be called, that she was found not guilty of?

Do you think our current idea of punishment and our way of dealing with offenders works?

In what ways does it work, in what ways doesnt it?

After answering those two, see how your answer to the first one relates to your answer to the second, and let me know how consistent your beliefs about justice/punishment are with your perception of the reality of modern justice systems.

How could it be improved?

Take this guy for example. He thinks Newton's laws of gravity and motion are absolute and superior to "theory." Why? Because they have the word "law" in them.

The fact is Newton's laws of motion and gravity are also theories. They were created to explain and predict motion, but the fact is they cannot explain motion of objects going relatively fast or motion at the quantum level. For example, for many years people tried to explain the descrepancy between Newton's laws of motion and Mercury's real procession around the sun. They just didn't fit. Einstein "THEORY" of relativity supercedes Newton's "laws" of motion.

Newton's laws could not predict Mercury's orbit around the sun. Einstein's theory could.

FOR AMERICAN COMBAT VETERANS ONLY:

So I have heard many good things and bad things about the M-16 weapons family:

Good:
Light
Easier to maintain
Smaller caliber = more ammunition
High rate of fire

Bad:
Jamming problems
Lack of stopping power
Lack of penetration
Relatively fragile contruction

What I am basically asking is that, in a firefight on the streets of an Iraqi city, would you rather have your "trusty" M-16, M-4, M-249, (5.56mm) or would you rather have something bigger, like an M-14 or M-240 (7.62mm). Sure its a heavier weapon, and you can carry less ammunition, but is it worth the weight?
